P120SE VS P120SX
Hi guys,
I use in my SM Hawk the good and smooth P120SE and i'm thinking to put the P120 SX. Do you believe that it's worth to do that or I have nothing to get more with the SX?
Thanks in advance for any replies....

There is a noticable increase in performance between the SE and SX. Plus if you are running kero start the SX seems to start even easier than the std motor with external screw in Kero.

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
I don't notice that much difference in performance between the P120SE and P120SX
I have both, both great engines. If you indeed use kero-start, you could argue the internal kerostart is abit faster/more reliable.
But only for that I would not exchange the engines.
The P120SE spools up almost as fast as the 120SX (do'nt notice it in flight). The SX is a bit quieter, spools up a little smoother.
But overall, I would not exchange it if it is running/flying fine. If you need more performance, get the 160SX
Otherwise, get the 120SX and a new airframe to put it into - there's no such thing as enough jets

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
If you don't pay for performance and you're paying for sound why don't you take a voice recorder go to national airport and record all the jets during the take off!
It's much much cheaper...

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
Hi Night,
someone told me that the SX needs a batteryat least double in capacity than using with SE.
And thats for the kerostart system.
For the SE i use 2cell Lipo 3300Mah.So i'll need for the SX a 5000Mah battery?
Is that true?

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
I use a three cell A123/2300Mah on my SX without any problems, I don't know how many starts it will do in total before it needs re-charging as I top up the battery on the field after three starts and flights.

I use 2S/2500 mA/H LiPo (the one that Jetcat includes with the turbines) for all my engines (P60SE and 4 x P160SX), except my P200SX!
I charge after 3 flights, doesn't matter if it's a P60Se or P160SX, it's just a routine I have, 3 flights, then charge. I usualy stuff around 1000..1200 mA/H back in the batteries
My P200SX I use a 5500mA/H battery, mainly because of the weight I needed in the nose of the plane (Skymaster Viperjet), but also because the starter motor of the P200SX has a higher demand.

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
Actually depends on ambient temp...ie if it's hot it has more cool down spools. In cold England I have a 3400 2s Li-Po in my CARF Hawk and I have had 9 flights, all in one day
Tassos, you have too much heat!

RE: P120SE VS P120SX
both internal and external kerostarters use the SAME ceramic burner.
there is no difference between the se or sx when it comes to performance , i flew all of them and to be honnest your better of with a derated 160SX wich spools about 35% faster then the SE or SX.
and when you shop around you will find shops that actualy sell the p-160sx for the price of a P-120SX sold elsewhere [:-]
