SPAD3D/PQHOR First Flight Report
Specs:
WS: 36 Fuse: 36 OS46SF two Stroke. Standard Airtronics Radio which worked fine . Dual Aileron Servo's mounted PBF style. It's mostly a PQHOR with some SPAD3D dimensions and I tried to keep the wing as flat as possible.
Whaaaat a blast!!! Everything everyone here on RCU has been saying about this plane is true. All the fun of the PBF, but soooo much more stable. Not quite the roll rate of the PBF, but enough. I noticed I was not as nervous flying the PQHOR as the PBF. This thing ex cells at slow flight right on the deck. Hovering is almost no problem. Elevators are even better and more stable than the PBF. This thing begs to do tail touches. Spins are OK. Flat spins right side up are dull, but inverted are AMAZING!!!! It looses almost no altitude in inverted flat spins. Just looks like it hangs there doing 10 foot circles!!! Soooo cool. I had about 5 saves at about 5 feet of altitude. No doinks. 4 each 6oz. tankful flights. The only negative about the plane is my gear does not allow enough prop clearance (I was using some old gear off of a RIP ARF). So I am using a 10 X 7 prop which is not the best hover prop. I broke 1 prop because of the low prop clearance. Very fun day. A student of mine was there and he wanted nothing to do with a PBF, but he's thinking about getting some coro now. The blue vinyl that I used for the trim was purchased from the sign shop at a cost of $6 - 1/3 the cost of the whole airframe. Hehee.
THANKS TATOO!!!!!!

Dennis,
Thanks for asking about the checkers. My camera is a little old and likes lots of light. For some reason they came out black when they actually match the blue that I got at the sign shop perfectly. The checkers are off a large trim sheet from Sig. I used windex for the blue sheet and the checkers and it worked out great. I like the Sig decals.
Tatoo,
Thanks for the comments. I'm having a blast with it.
Further flying:
I take back my comment about flat spins right side up being dull - that was the pilot and not the plane. At our fun fly Saturday, some guest flyers got some time on it and it flat spins right side up beautifully. About 10 foot circles loosing almost no altitude. Also the wire gear was a mistake. I put longer wire gear on and it gave me the prop clearance I needed, but is still not holding up well - heheee at least not holding up to running out of gas while hovering at 25 feet hehee. I thought I could get away with using what I had, but alas, I should have done it the way the plan said. Aluminum gear coming soon.

the aluminum will bend also...i keep a crescent wrench handy too straighten it with....if you are not bending the gear you are not flying it properly
