Default how to deal with 086 pipe?

for those who have a 086 pipe mounted on their savage.. i would like to know something...
i just got a dynamite inline 086 pipe *YAY* and when i mount it on my xl, you guy probably know this, its mounts kinda sideways...
well for me the pipe has full contact with the body and i'm afriad it'll melt.. if there was space between the pipe an the body i won't be that concerned but its fully touching it.... i tryed raising the body post to the highest setting but there is still part of the body thats touching the pipe [:@] ...
so i was wondering what did you guys do to over come this problem... cuz i want to run my car after its winter long hibernation but worried that i'll burn a hole in the body... and these bodies ain't cheap

thanks in advance.

I use foil backed tape with good results.

so if i put those are the aluminum tape thingy on the inside of the body where it touches the exhaust it'll prevent the body from melting. cuz i've seen the aluminum tape on body where it doesn't actually touch the pipe so not sure how it'll react in situations like this...
anyways thanks for replying and the link

Yup prevents mine from melting. just make sure your lid is clean or the tape wont stick. If its a used body i use some shoegoo to help it stick

take a picture with the motor in and the body on. I have 2 dynamite 086 and 053 pipes for my XL and X. Mine do not touch the body. A picture would help us out alot in helping you. Something seems funny to me.

the only proper way to cure ur problem is to get onto the hpi website and buy the correct manifold, i encountered the exact same problem, i suppose you could try drilling new mounting holes for the manifold spring but i reckon it would tend to jump off a lot and not seat right

its cuz the header can only be mounted sideways at the same level as the exhaust port... lol soo that what "inline" mean

The reason your header is mounted funny is beacuse the dynamite exhast is supposed to be mounted to the left side not the right. If you look at the first pic you posted you see the flat groove on top the header. well do the same thing but on the bottom thats what i had to do. I cant believe i didnt realize it earlier. Just file the oposite side down and it will fit just fine!

Yep grind a flat spot on the header so it can be moved down. that will bring it closer to the frame and away from the body.

lexan melts at like 500 degrees. it will soften up though and may change shape.
