ZDZ 80 mid-throttle miss.
My ZDZ80 runs like a champ, but every once in a while it makes a missing sound at mid throttle, while in flight. It is not a cough, but rather a burp. Would this be a slightly rich mid range needle valve setting? It starts beautifully, and never quits but I hate this little miss which happens about a dozen times a flight. Any ideas?

Well the first thing is that although this is listed as a support forum, no one from TBM monitors or answers questions here so you won't get much feedback except for other users.
First thing is always double checking your needle settings especially if the engine is relatively new and breaking in as it will require less fuel as it loosens up and if you don't lean things out a bit, it'll exhibit symptoms of being rich.
Next place especially if it's a bit older or this problem developed recently or over a short period of time, is to look at your sparkplug and make sure it's in good shape or replace it with a new one. I find that setting the plug gap at .018-.020 works better than what is suggested in the manual. Also verify the condition of the ignition battery, wiring and switch in the ignition system.
