Default www.towerhobbies.com bad customer support!

Well my mom placed an order for me, and she made one big mistakes, she ordered a Tower .46 engine, i wanted TT .46.
So i called towerhobbies today, (two times)
The first time,
I gave the lady my customer number and she said the order was shipped out, and there is nothing she could do. So i asked if she could call fedex and cancel the order, she said no. Then I asked if i can just don't accept the order, and she said a big OK, no problem. All the time I talked to her she was so unfriendly!
Then I called fedex, they said (friendly) that said I should call back in two hours so that the shipment would be in the system.
Then I called them the second time, asked agian that if their's anything they could do, again an unfriendly no, and then i asked again if I can just not accept the shipment, and she said NO or otherwise i couldn't order with them anymore. I said ok, and said bye bye. she just hung up, saying nothing!

I am really not statisfied with their customer support, and really don't think they want to have statisfied customers, all they want is the $$$$. If this problem won't fix, I won't shop there anymore This is the third time i unstatisfied!

Hobbypeople.net are so much better! (Deleivered always my products in less than 3 days) and Friendly customer support!

Default motor

I would simply return the engine to Tower for credit and swap for the T-Tiger......you will have to pay the "return frt." but after all the wrong engine was ordered on your end. They will be happy to swap it out........

Seems to me that you have unrealistic expectations concerning customer service.
IMO, they (tower) did all they could, given the engine had already shipped.

Learn to recognize when you're responsible for an error, and deal with the consequences, in this case having to return an engine that you erroneously ordered.

I've had great customer support at tower! Try getting some other large e-tailer to swap orders once it is already shipped, you will get the same response. There is simply nothing they can do at that point, fedex has it. Also, most retailers do have a policy that if you refuse a shipment you won't be getting another shipment... You cost them double the shipping charges and are now a problem consumer.

Fedex (especially ground) works best if they have no customer contact in between the package being dropped off and delivery. (Fedex air is great to work with, I have made arrangements to pick up packages as soon as they come of the aircraft before, even when delivery is scheduled for the next day)

if they had not shipped the engine yet would you be complaining that their customer service is bad because they have "slow shipping"?

You made the mistake so you should be responsible for the cost of returning the item.

If you had a bad operator, then complain to their customer service, not here on RCU. I complained once because I got tired of one operator pushing the "Savers Club" down my throat. The person at customer service took my name and customer number, now when I call, I do not get any other products other than what I ordered forced on me. I think that is pretty good customer service. They tagged me, made a customer profile, and honor my wishes on how I like to be treated when called.

P.S. Tower is also one of the only mail order company's that does not spam me to oblivion.

What did you honestly expect - Tower to send someone down to the airport to pick out your engine and replace it with another?

Ok you might have something that the lady was short/curt/rude or whatever - but what did you expect them to actually do if the engine had shipped?

Hey this is a first for me, I have never seen anyone complain that their order shipped out too fast and then diss the company. Next time YOU write down what you want and give the list to mom and if something goes wrong you only have yourself to blame. It's good to see that you see the error of your ways, next time wait a day before you post a complaint.

Speaking of Tower Hobbies and shipping. No problem with Tower Hobbies. My order was shipped soon after they recieved it. FedEx brought it right through my little town, then 200 more miles to L.A. Then FedEx sent it through my town again, to a town 60 miles the other way. It finally brought the order to my town, but the driver couldn't find my house. Back it goes 60 miles north. Now it sits there, even after I called the toll free #, and relayed explicit directions to my house. It seems I can't call the local office direct, it's against company policy. I finally flagged down the FedEx truck here in town, and he says " that's a different division of FedEx, I'm 2 day air, not Surface. Oh well, I'd drive up to get it, but they probably have rules against that also.

I have a tower .40 and it runs great, but it did take a while to break in.(about a gallon and a half before I could get a reliable idle) not to bad.

Exactly, (see my above post about fedex ground vs air) Fedex ground generally doesn't have offices you can go up to. My local one is nothing but an unmarked steel building to park the trucks for servicing. Nothing more.... you MAY be able to talk one of the mechanics/drivers/whoever else that is wandering around into giving you the package, but that is even assuming you find the place to start with. (the fedex air guys told me where it was, but said you probably wouldn't get far doing that.)
