Guys i was going thru my photos when i saw my all times favorite jetpack project

so anyone know if my favorite guy is still one piece?

for those ones you dont know..this guy came up on ebay a sunny morning a few years ago with
8 turbines up his b@t saying he will fly!

"I am selling you the right to name my jet pack. The name you choose, providing it is not vulgar or racist, will be branded on my production jet packs as well."
Starting price was $10,000 just to name his back pack and buy it now price was 1/2 million dollars!

Don't know about the Jet pack man, but the bird man is still around, developing his take off dolly was the last I heard.

Does anyone know how that BirdMan guy lights those JetCats?

I have always assumed that he auto-starts them in the plane BEFORE jumping out, cause I find it very difficult to believe that you could get 4 turbines to reliably start out in the wind AFTER exiting the launch aircraft. But then again, whay nutty pilot would even consider letting someone light up four turbines INSIDE the cabin, before exiting????

he does light them up inside the airplane. look up the show they did on National Geographic about him - its quite amazing.

Where do they find a pilot for the launch plane that is crazy enough to allow that??? Maybe they just don't tell him until he initiates auto-start... They need to find a new pilot each flight then!!!

The plane has been prepared in advance, with metal sheeting inside, and the start is done with a Jetcat representative (in the NG show i saw Roman Kullosek) working the turbines. i guess its all a matter of taking th eneccesary precautions.

Well, yeah. That makes it better, but how many times have we all seen a start go terribly wrong at our flying fields? And this guy has FOUR TIMES the chance of something bad happening, in the LAUNCH PLANE!!! WOW!!!
