Default problems with my xxx-nt and jr xr2i radio

i am having a problem with my radio in my truck. its a brand new xxx-nt with the jr xr2i radio . i ran through break in with no problems and even got a couple tanks of gas in with no problems. then i went to a park but my truck started acting strange (slow responce, no responce, losing control) but i dismissed it as interference from the construction going on across the street. so i go home and start it up and run the rest of the day with no problems (except an air leak but thats fixed now). then i brought it out the next day and it started acting strange and took off into my garage so i called it a day. tryed it the next day and no sooner did i get the car started it took off. first the steering pulls all the way to the right and i cant turn it back and throttle response is slow if i get any responce at all. then the car jsut goes to full throttle and i go shut it off. it happens at anytime, when i first start it or even after i have run half a tank of gas. i have replaced the batteries and havent gotten anything wet. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME????????

what do u have your throttle trim and steering trim set at. i dont know if that matters though it sounds like theres something wrong with your electronics. did u spray any nitro cleaner on the car.

Stupid suggestion.

Make sure your antenna wire is up all the way!!

The other day my Failsafe would kick in when the car got like 10 feet away from me and this was the problem.

I've got three ideas.

1. Check your crystals. It's hard to do unless you have a spare, but dropping your radio or getting big air jumping your car can damage your crystals which might cause similar symptoms.

2. Bypass your on / off switch. If you clean your car with any water based products like simple green, 409, or anything like that, you may develop some rust on the contacts inside your switch. It's about the only truely exposed area of the radio on the car.

3. Try a range check with the car off. See if you are experiencing the same problem with the engine off. If not, make sure that you have a large enough gap in your coupler between the muffler and your pipe. The vibrations can sometimes cause radio interferience.

4mm should be enough.

Do you get any interference with the radio off, and just the car on?

If you are receiving outside interference your servos will twitch with just the car on and no radio signal from your transmitter.

If you see glitching when you power on your car and not the radio, it usually means that there is either "noise" on that frequency, or moisture in the servos. Turning on your transmitter is supposed to overpower the weaker signal, (noise) on the frequency and allow you to function normally.

Does the glitching start when you turn on your transmitter? If so, do you have another transmitter that you can switch the crystal out with? If you have another transmitter that you can put the crystal from your XXX-NT into, it will tell you if it is the JR Radio. If the glitching continues, try trading out crystal sets from another car and see if it keeps up. Just make sure that you are not mixing up AM and FM crystals and radio gear. You can isolate the problem by changing out 1 thing at a time.

Turn on just car ---- Done. (Moisture in receiver or servos or interference)

Turn on car with crystal in different transmitter - (Transmitter)

Turn on car with crystal in different receiver - (Receiver)

Turn on car with different crystal in JR and receiver - (Crystals)

Turn on car with different servos and original Tx and Rx - (Servos)

Anyway, I hope this helps, I know it's a pain, but it's just a question of process of elimination.

As long as the RS4 radio is AM. Everything should be okay. I think that the JR XR2 that comes with the XXX-NT is AM.

Default problems with my xxx-nt and jr xr2i radio

yeah, they are both am. it turns out that the only thing that works is the radio. since it has done this since the beginnig i called jr and spent 3 hours on the phone with them and the only thing i got is a phone number for me to call tomorrow. just because it pissed me off and this is after all the topic of this thread i am going to share my enjoyable experience with JR tehcnical support.

first i call and am left on hold for 30 min before anyone gets to me (thank god for speakerphone) then the guy says that quote'that cant happen, its not supposed to'unquote WELL DUH ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO YOU IDIOT!!! THATS WHY I CALLED!!! i actually said that so he put me on hold for an hour and then someone else picks up. they listen and honestly said that they cant help me and put me onl hold again. so finally someone picks up gives me a phone number and says theyll tell you what to do. good thing its a toll free call
