Thanks Flack.
You can really tell how much of an amature photographer I am with that thumb print. Actually, it turned out to be a lens fogged on the inside. I've ran 4 more tanks of fuel through the DL 50 and it is dialed in and ready to fly but I won't get to fly it until weekend after this one due to being out of town[:@]. I drive by our field every weekend on my way out and wish I was able to do some drillin'.

How are all of you that have this plane flying setting up the throws. Are the recommended low rates enough or does it need more for the first flight? I'm not much of a 3-D monster yet but have found on some other planes the recommended throws needed a lot of input to not fly "mushy". looking for all the input I can get for a solid and uneventful maiden.

Happy flyin' all,
Rod

I have about 35 flights on mine right now. Set up is just about perfect for me. The recommended low rates are a good place to start. I have them as my low rates then an intermediate setting and a high rate setting. So far I am very pleased with the way this plane flies. I was flying an Edge and find that this 260 does both upright and inverted flat spins better than the Edge. Knife edge is about the same. IMAC type aerobatics are a little better with the 260.

My Dietrich 50cc 260 came in today and boy what a ARF, very well packed. I was surprised that I had three boxes. The cowl has it's on box. I got the LG and vertical stab put in tonight and will have all day tomorrow to work on it with all the rain we are getting. It appears that it will not take long to get this baby ready to fly.

Has anyone installed the 3W 55 engine on this model??? I purchased the ARF last year at the Toledo show from Kevin and still have not had a chance to put it together. I really want to go with the 3W 55 rather than the DA 50 and was wondering if anyone has installed the engine in and has close up pics of the install??

Any other things should be modified or replaced before building?? I will be replacing the plastic horns with SWB's.

Thanks again,

Sev T.

There is a 3W 55 plywood templete that comes with the plane.

Yep to what Gaines said. If it is as accurate as the one for the DA you wont have any issues at all with the install.

I'm interested on what you all think of this plane. In terms of durability, quality, covering, landing gear, hardware, manual, and simply how it flies.

The covering on the black tail Extra is beautiful.

Your opinions are appreciated!

I maidend mine today and am pleased as to how it fly's, snaps are crisp & clean stops on a dime
presents like a bigger plane in the air, very light fly-er mine came out @ 16.3 lbs I will go with a CF wing/stab tube to lighten it a lil more, did i mention it floats on final

This plane I believe is made in the same factory of the world models line of aircraft
is solid to handle with foam lining on the bottom (like a baby carden) instructions are PDF if you like I can send them to you to checkout.

Hi all. I was thinking of getting one of these to replace my H9 Extra. I am watching this thread for as much info as possible.
If anyone can send me the manual it would be appreciated.

Just a word of caution to anyone owning one of these Extras. I have about 75 flights on mine and have ran into a serious problem. To start with, when the plane had about 5 flights on it, the rudder hinges came loose. Looked like poor gluing. I told Dietrich Aviation about it and they told me how they would repair it. So I did and checked the rest of the control surfaces at that time. Well yesterday after a couple of flights I thought the plane was acting a little erratic especially on landing. I looked it over and couldnt find anything but noticed that the gap on one aileron looked too wide. I pulled on it and guess what, hinges were coming loose. Checked the other side, same story. I mean these hinges are really loose to the point where one side was being held mostly by the contol linkage. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. I emailed Kevin and he said to send the wings to him and he would repair them. Not really what I wanted as I can fix them here and save the trouble and cost of shipping them. This plane is an excellent flyer but this certainly shakes my faith in buying another one from here. My point to all this is, if you own one of these, check your hinges from time to time. I have owned other 50cc sized planes and not ran in to this issue. Maybe having the hinges pre glued from the factory is not a great idea.

Does anyone have any videos? I'm trying to decide between this airplane, the airwild 260, or the aeroworks 260 (50 cc).

Vanguard I have had the same problem with both of my Aeroworks models. Its A great sale point but I would prefur to due this step my self. I check mine from time to time just to be safe. I love the black red and yellow, I have A Brisson 3.2 that needs A home. I also like the 75cc one great looking schems. If it flys as good as it looks this will be my next 50cc so lets hear some flying reports guys.

Capflyr, were your hinges on the Aeroworks the robart type pin hinges. If so how did you repair them. I hate to have to send my wing panels to Dietrich.

Yes they are the robarts. I used A tooth pic to open up the sides around the hinge and then used 30 min epoxy and packed it down in the wood with the tooth pic. Note that you got to lube up the hinge knuckel with oil or petrolium jelly to keep the hing from gluing shut. I also moved the surface back and forth about every 2 min. just to be safe and not glue it shut. I have had no problems yet it worked great just take your time and get as much glue packed in that you can. I also pulled the covering back A little and then as the glue dryed I stuck it on the sticky epoxy. After it dryd I went overr it with my iron and you cant see it at all. I hope this helps you out.

melt some petrolium jelly and then bend the knuckle and dip.this will get the jelly all though way thru pin joint.after you remove pins.re-drill holes to correct size .wet a q-tip with water and slightly wet inside hindge pin hole.use gorilla glue just a couple drops.the gorilla glue is the best as it will expand and fill any void areas from the epoxy glue from first factory gluing.i use to always glue pins with epoxy myself untill i heard of many using this method.am using it on my exteme flight yak with great success.
