Here is my HL Panther. I still have to apply markings and weathering, but figured I would post it any way. I changed the front of the hull to make it look a little more like a panther. It also has metal road wheels, tracks, and suspension arms.

very good work on your sprockets. Did it come with hl or you build it? My was like the tiger sprockets.

Finished my HL a week or so ago, loads of metal parts including tracks. Made my own tow ropes etc as you can see. Loads you can't see like the photo etch grills and metal opening hatches.

Oh little note for you HL owners, with my 2000 miliamp battery my Tiger drove really slowly with the metal tracks and sprockets, scale speed i think but it did seem to be struggling. However i have just put a 3000mAH battery ina nd it has tons of torque and can get up and through anything now. Speed is a bit fast but you can scale it down with a gentle touch of the controller.

cheers

Hehe, the 3000mAH battery pack is giving you the "placebo effect". Capacity has nothing to do with torque or power output (I should put this in the FAQ). It's voltage. The extra weight of the metal parts causes the motors to strain and thus drain the 2000mAh pack down faster, causing the voltage to drop faster. If you fly RC planes, the more servos you have, the faster the Rx battery pack drains and the shorter the flight time (can't fly below 4.8 volts). This is why the WSN 1:16 T-34/85 is the strongest climber with its 9.6V batteries even though the tank has a pair of weak motors.

so are you saying with hl tank if I use 4200mah will give more power on hills as compared to 3300mah, ho wabout the heat stress on circuit board.?

If you install a bigger gas tank (more capacity) into your real car, does it give your engine more power on hills and put more heat stress on your electronics?

Well, to some extent, your voltage will stay up longer so you have sufficient power to climb successive hills. Your motors cease to work when the voltage drops below a certain threshold. Higher capacity does not put heat stress on the circuit board.

I believe it is more than a placebo effect. Agree with everything Richard said but an older pack that has been used a while and lose efficiency and it's discharge curve will shift down. Under the same draw it will provide the current needed at a lower voltage, so you lose the power or torque that is associated with higher voltages. Anytime you put in a new battery pack performance will seem to improve, it usually is because you are replacing a less than healthy pack.

Here is my HL Panther. I extended my front glacis plate down a little further and modified the bottom front of the hull to give it a shallower angle (which most people don't do). I also custom cut the rails for the two front tow shackles. Note the correct location of the tow shackles. Panther drive sprockets are from TankZone. I'm still waiting for center caps from them.

Richard, I love that tank but it still looks 'off' The barrel looks short and stubby. Is it close to scale?

Funny Perry says that, I thought exactly the same, the hull looks much better but the gun looks totally wrong, not long enough and too fat. I appreciate that it needs to be if you want to fire the airsoft, but personally I would sacrifice the airsoft, I disabled mine in the Tiger, couldn't see the point of it...

Yep, the gun is too short and fat. I'm thinking about making it longer and smaller in diameter.

Yes, I can just use the bare metal barrel, but it would need to be longer. I have some 6.04mm airsoft barrels that I can cut down.

The inner barrel has a hole in it about 1/3rd of the way down. The HL gun won't work without a hole unless you modifiy the gun.

hi guys,i said yesterday i would post details and pictures of my tiger1, i have taken a few photos for you guys to look at and comment on, but first i will list every thing i have done to her-,i replaced plastic wheels and tracks with late production metal tracks with chevrons, metal suspension arms and brass repair spigots, aluminium late production wheels, the smaller late metal idler wheels, metal gearboxs, also late sprocket wheel hubs, metal tow shackles spare track links and holders, late metal cuppola and aa machine gun and mounting, metal turret vents, engine air intake cover, sprocket wheel strenghening plates, extended main gun barrel, mantlet turned 180'o,modified exhausts,(smoke comes out through the exhausts)opening rear engine hatch, that makes topping up the smoke block easy.opening front metal hatches, led bow mahcine gun,led coaxial mg,metal tank tool set, zimmerit anti mine coating, home made decals, various stowage acessories, home made ammo crates, notched out front tow shackle holders, single monocular gun sight, and repositioned turret rotation unit. she has been hand painted (no brush marks) in the 101st ss panzer battalion colours, normandy june 1944, i hand painted it because that is how it would of been done during the war.she has been weathered and has a few battle scars, i think she has turned out reasonably well, though there are a few details to be sorted out in the near future. let me know what you all think.

excellent work. Have you considered add a little weathering effects so as dry brushing........it takes 3 minutes...
