I am not planning an airbrake. I don't think it will need it and I think cutting a hole could weaken the structure.

I have now glued the engine mount to the inside of the fuselage. For those that have built one, did you glue the mount at the top and the bottom? Glueing at the top is fairly straightforward but glueing at the bottom (i.e. to the rounded exhausts) could be a bit of a nightmare.

How's the build going? I just mounted my autostart 44 in my airframe (previously assembled by Glyn Dale) I am a little conscerned about the heat sheild, I have constructed one out of stainless, coated the airframe with BVM heatsheild paint then coated the sheild. I ran for about 5 mins ; I felt the top of the fuz whilst running and it was hot! I have blisters forming on the painted outer heatsheild.(it shows evidence of scorching from its previous flights with Glyn) Is a blanket reqd between the sheild and airframe? I am just about ready to fly but dont want to fry the aircraft.

When you make your stainless steel heat shield you should use small hardwood spacers to position
it a few mm from the fuselage. This will also allow air to flow through in flight.

Thanks Tor, I will add the spacers, we don't get much cooling from 45 C surface temps here...

10 flights so far, 10 mins + reserve of 2 mins. Had to add some colour to aid visability in our sandy skies.

Looking good

Can you tell me how you glued the engine mount in? I've glued it at the top (with the fuselage the correct way up) but not sure what to do about the bottom (where it joins the rounded exhaust part of the fuselage). Have you glued it there too?

my mounts already installed at the factory, looks like a fillet with carbon tows along the length.I cut into the tunnel to provide a drop in pull out space for the motor with mount att otherwiseits a fiddle to remove the motor. I also fitted a cover for the frontof the motor to prevent hoovering up any looseobjects off the runway(it draws air in through holes in the sides of the tunnel.
