Another update.
Control surfaces have been completed, painted and the trim tabs installed. I also made a bomb for the bottom which you can see in the third picture, in the primed stage. Next will be to glue the control surfaces on and start the markings.

Finished off the tail markings this evening as well as the wheel pants. Next will be the vertical lines forward of the main fin. Then the long weathering process will begin.

Well, I started the weathering process. I am using some water based paint I found laying around. I mixed up some black and white to create a gray wash. Seems to be turning out well. After I am done I will clearcoat. I will have to make very light coats so the wash will not run.

Craig The Vall is really taking shape. Do you have an idea what it is going to weigh? Rich

I am just about to make first flight of my Val. The weight is 8.5 lbs, with 1 lb lead in nose to meet CG. I am nervios if the RCV 58 will be enough engine, and if the gear can handle the extra weight, especially flying off of grass. Any thoughts?

Craig Did you ever figure out what caused the Val to crash?

Rich

Cause of crash..................ME!!!!!!
Rotated before it was ready to fly, and it tip stalled. Easy to repair, just have not got around to it.
I was to worried about nosing over, and she took off before it was ready. I am more exoperienced now (I think) and was not being easy on the elevator.

If you learn something from your mistakes it's not a total loss. Maybe your next try will be a lot easer. I think we all have been there.

Any of the Skyshark VALs still out there? Maybe ancient history and no one is still following this thread but . . . .
I recently acquired the airframe minus engine at a swap meet. Looking for the balance point and any information that might help me make it fly again.
