Default Greatplanes CG machine ?

Can someone tell me if this machine is accurate.
i using one of these and seems to me that every minor change (the distance of the ruler pointers from LE, the level from which you leave the model) causes quite big CG difference
am I right ?

by the way is every low wing model should be balance upside down

thanks

What type of plane are you trying to balance? Mine works great for high and low wing planes but I have a hard time with a mid-wing plane like a Somethin' Extra.

I've been using one since they came out and think it is very accurate - only 1 sq. In of space touching a wing panel is nice.

Yes, a small shift in its location will demonstrate the nose/tail heavy condition.

I don't think it's perfect, but it's a better method than "fingers on the spar". What I've learned with the GP CG machine is to make sure that the wires on the end of the rulers are just touching the leading edge of the wing....not forced against it. That will keep an accurate measurement. And yes, all low wing models should be balanced upside down. As RCAeroguy mentioned, mid wing models can be a bit trickier to balance.
