Default First upgrades for t-maxx 3.3?

hi guys i got my maxx a few days ago and its running great and im wanting to know whats the first thing it needs strength wise? i broke the center drive shaft yesterday and putting the u-joint in the yokes and the half shafts are the biggest pain in the but so i was looking at the center cvd's from traxxas, are those any good? So i was wanting to know what else to make stronger?

I personally would just upgrade the part when it breaks. Different people drive in different ways and break different things.

Is it a 4909 or 4908/4907?

its a 4909, and im not the best at judging speed for jumps so i always over jump things and it will bottom out pretty hard and i was looking at the plastic braces that connect to the chassis i have a feeling those will break.

it was prolly too loose...run it down snug then back off a 1/4 turn...if all ur runnin is a 3.3 the stock slipper is plenty good its just a matter of getting it adjusted right...id spende ur money on sum rpm shock moubts and bulk heads...those are the weakiest points of the t maxx...the frame connectors would be highly reccomended as well...all ive stated would greatly help espically if ur gonna be jumpin and playin

RPM does not make bulkheads or chassis braces. I dont recomment their shock towers on a nitro maxx, you will bend/dent the engine header if you do any hard bashing with the RPM towers..

A failsafe , and a throttle return spring would be among the first upgrades I would be looking at !!!
trust me , one runaway can cost you quite a bit , in the right surcumstance .(been there , done that)

Yes a failsafe and spring for sure. Then get some 50wt shock oil, good aluminum bulkheads( no INTEGY!)and a pullstarter / glo ignitor. A decent pair of servos and some ball bearings for the steering too. Loosen your slipper a hair too, that's probably why you ruined a shaft so quickly.

i would say upgrade the A-arms as a first priority and then put in a 3 or 4 shoe clutch.

A-arms are a good upgrade, but you wouldn't want to attach them to the stock bulkheads, the bulkheadsshould be first. Start by building a strong 'core', then work your way out. I have aluminum bulks, rpm a-arms with the true track, lunsford hinge pins, aluminum skids, rpm bumper, shock towers and some other goodies. I'm eventually going to get aluminum chassis braces, but the stockers are still ok. I left the stock axle carriers up front for a planned weak link when I hit stuff.

ok well I got my order from Tower today with my repair/ mod parts. alluminum big bore shocks good no problems with the install. 2nd 6v 1500mah bat pack no problems. slipper clutch rebuild kit no problem. mip cvd centers PROBLEM! when you read tower it says mip cvd centers for tmaxx 3.3. no others are listed for 3.3 tmaxx just that piticular set. when i look at the pkg it says 4909 only it says nothing on tower about that it says tmaxx 3.3. help on finding a center set that will fit a 4908 would be greatly apperciated

Get a hpi savage 77mm dogbone and revo extended drive cups for the rear and that's all you need. The only shafts I've ever found for the extended maxxare mip splined shafts......PUREJUNK!! My picco 21 snapped them things(the pins)like twigs, and that engine is a dog. They also rust and if they come apart it'sgoodbye half of your cvdshaft!I have to go to work I'll get you some part #'s later today.

Also does anyone no if there is a brand who makes a plastic center skid plate, i dont like how everything is so exposed under the chassis.</p>

Tra 5153r and hpi 86151 for the parts. You don't really need anything up front, just don'tset your brake too tight. I think I spent about 15 bucks on that setup. If you really want cvd's get the set of 4. I was going to get the set of 4 but I won a new eb mods os 18tm with an extra piston/sleeve combo for 220 bucks on ebay. I think I'm officially done spending money on my maxx now.

i installed duratrax front and rear skid plates, golden horizon bulkhead braces, integy frame connectors, rps center skid plate and have no problems with my stock bulkheads. they broke on me once before the skid plates and that was it. everyone bashes integy but i never really had a problem with any of their stuff and i use alot of their products on all 13 of my cars and trucks and all of them get beat on like a red headed step-child.

I made a center rear cvd for my brothers Tmaxx out of a cut down Summit CVD Axle. I bought a pair of them. Put the same end on both ends of the shaft. Then cut the ends of the shaft down so I could get in in. I did have to use a dremal to make clearance between the drive shaft and flat aluminum chassi plate.
