What is the easiest way to de-anodize something. I read that NaOH (i think its sodium hydroxide 
) can be used. Where can I get that?

that and maybe the chassis. I got green fuel line for my rush and the the heatsink and chassis are purple. Thus, the barney mobile.

hey watch the barney jokes! the Engine in my '66 Bug is purple and (neon) green, LOL.
its a really nice color combo I think.
whenever someone makes a barney joke I tell them the engine is NOT painted after barney but instead is painted after Incredible universe. (does anyone remember that store???)
for removing anodzing I'd just sand it off personally.

ok. I did the easy-off oven cleaner, and left it on for about 9 hours. it worked, but its now light pink (the chassis) the heatsink didn't change at all. maybe some different type of metal or something. I'll probably just buy a silver heatsink (if they sell those) and continue to use the easy off for the chassis. I had to stop everything and put it all back together cause I was going over to a friends house. I cant really sand it off cause its hard to get into the heatsink fins and the chassis will take a long tome. you now, I might be able to use a bench grinder for the chassis...

yeah, and if oyu screw up teh holes for hte counter sunk screws that would ruin your day. i think that the barney mobile is a great idea though.

Wonder if the OS RG's head is anodized because it looks like it's been painted with hi-temp paint. I might want to sand off the top because it has an ugly road rash and repaint it maybe or leave it.

ok, I might just do the barneymobile for races and stuff, just to give a theme. With the body, I'll probably start at the front with green and fade into purple. I'll get some barney stickers and put them where they look best. then I'll get those little peel-off letters in green and put them on the back and make it say "BARNEY MOBILE" or something like that. Any comments, post them here. Also painting tips. I've never painted a body before. If I do this, I'll post pics. lol

Kuma, thats what I though before. I seen people remove the surface of of the heads in the past with no problem.
Easy off will work, you just need to take your time and do a complete job. Not have butted

If you know anyone with a sandblaster that'll take it off fast,even and will leave a cool satin/titanium looking finish.Another thing you could try is some chrome polish on a buffing wheel on a Dremel,you might end up with a sweet mirror polished peice but I don't know how long it would take.Anodizing isn't like paint,it goes a lil deeper into the metal but not far so it might polish off...you're gonna have to remove a little bit of metal to get rid of the pink leftovers.

If you can find a machine shop that has a glass beading cabinet NOT a sand blasting one AND an experienced glass beader, you can have all the anodizing removed (even in those cracks and crevises) down to the bare metal. I glass bead everything. From my RC projects to gun restoration.

They opened a HUUUGE store near me
3 months later.. going out of business sale.
It was just plain dumb. They partied like nuts when the store opened.. food drinks etc.
The had the first 3DFX Vodoo Monster 3D on sale then.. I still remember lol.
Voodoo 2 SLI.. hmmmm. That was "THE STUFF" to have back then (Scan Line Interleave)
Anyway, yeah I think the oven cleaner is safe on aluminum. I plan on doing that to my anodized fuel filter. ITs RED. Everything else on mt TC3 is blue.. so gonna bleach it and make it plain aluminum.. I heard its looks good.
Note: OVER CLEANER IS CAUSTIC! IT WILL BURN YOUR HANDS. Do not touch it!!

hum........ your should wear plastic gloves when using Easy-Off ( over cleaner )
