Default SIG ARF planes- too expensive

Aaaaa! Here in Singapore, a SIG ARF does not come below $400. Reaaaaaaal expensive. I can get 4 Vietnamese planes for that price! Kits cost about $200 less but they are kits and I don't do kits (yet?)

How's the price in your area?

Their aerobats seem fairly competitive, but $200 for the Somthin' extra?!?! or the Kadet trainer?!?! Compared to some other comparable things in those classes, Sig does seem about 25% overpriced.

I know others will disagree, but for me it's "you get what you pay for" Sig's ARFs are far better than some (GP and H9), so I don't mind paying 25% more. Compare the SE ARF to the GP Dazzler. Sig uses REAL covering, better wood (I should know, I've seen the insides of 2), and it simply flies better. And I could never build a SE that nice looking, and it would cost more, or about the same.

But I don't live in Singapore, either! Are those Vietnamese ARFs any good?

Hey,
H-9's are pretty good, IMO, and use real covering too.
But if you insist, I may have to try a Sig, ARF!

although I've never had a sig SE ARF, i've put together a couple of SE kits... the arf seems very overpriced when compared to some other greats like the ucando 46 ($50 cheaper) and funtana ($30 less)

one nice thing is the kit didn't take much longer than the arfs to fly! each wing took no longer than 2-3 hours, fuse was another night, and covering was the final two evenings.

I have a Sig Somethin' Extra ARF and I have to admit it is a darn good flyer. I think it is very well built and covered but not perfect. This is the only Sig ARF I've ever purchased and I believe that even at $185 (that's how much I paid for it), it is way overpriced!

Sig ARFS are a little pricey--but they are worth it. They often times come with Dubro and/or Sullivan hardware most of which can actually be used. (Though they still insist on cheesy plastic clevises) Customer support is excellent. I have an LT-40 ARF, three years old, has over 1000 flights and still flys great. Their Rascal 40 is a gorgeous plane as well--definitely worth the money. Until I retire and have an overabundance of free time, I'll leave the high-quality plane builidng to Sig/World Models/H9.

If paying 25% more for an ARF means better build, better covering, better flying, sign me up!--otherwise you get stick on covering, bad fit, twitchy handling, wing clap, and it will still take longer to assemble the mess...
