Default DLE30 in RV4

I'm seriously considering stuffing a DLE30 in an RV4 I think this would be an incredible combo although I know there is some debate as to whether or not the airframe can handle it but nobody said you have to fly full throttle </p>

Why Not, I put a 3W 28i in mine, it handles it fine and I do fly it full throttle. Just watch the high G turns.

If you are talking about a Great Planes RV-4 in my opinion it will be way over powered. I think you will find that the lovely flying characteristics will change a bit. I went for a 90 4 stroke to a Zenoah G20 and the weight alone changed the way it flies. I love it but it doesn't hang in the air and float like a feather like it used to.
I am yet amazed this plane still won't stall even with the heavier G20 in it. One of the best planes GP has ever built.
I have actually considered changing to a DLE 20 to cut a few more ounces off the weight.

Note: You WILL have to relocate the servos to the tail and move batteries further to the aft to get it to balance right.

Yeah it definitely will be overpowered but a couple of the guys at the club I joined did this and they love it plus for me it's a stepping stone airplane I am eventually trying to get my flying skills back to the point of flying warbirds so the DLE 30 can transition nicely for me. By the way I went to the LHSand picked up a DLE 30 this morning.

Please bear with me, I am just curious, if a couple guys in your club that put a DLE 30 in their RV-4's then why fish for more opinions?

Simply because why limit myself to the opinions of two or three people when I can add the opinions of hundreds of experienced flyers and make an educated decision. More information simply facilitates my decision while taking into account my own needs and desires, That is the beauty of a discussion forum.

Why not the DLE 20, Vinny?

It is 12 ounces lighter (total weight) and able of 14 lb thrust.

12 ounces less plus ~20 ounces on the tail for balance equals around two additional lb total difference.
