Figuring it all out-
Getting back in RC after a LONG time. Last time I had a car it was the original Frog.
Trying to figure everything out nowadays. I am planning on getting a 1/8 eBuggy. Does anyone know a great website to read about, beside this one, or a link to a post here that tells the new guys what they need to know about the hobby in today world. Degrees on motors, Castle setups, et cetera.....
Thanks and see you out there.

at the top of each forum there are "stickys" which contain basic info. seeing how long you have been away, that would be a good place to start.
you will be amazed at what there is to chose from today!

RE: Figuring it all out-
I would check out rc-monster.com and RCTech.net as well as this site.
I have an E-Buggy. I converted it from a nitro vehicle, but you can buy a roller (Usually 80% built). I went with the Castle system MMM and a 2200KV. I also purchased a Castle 1800KV motor as a backup that is on sale at CastleCreations.com. I love their stuff. The MMM and my 2200KV has a one year warranty....awesome....... As far as transmitters, I think many are overkill. I use the basic features of mine- an old Airtronics M8. As far as batteries I have Pro-match and Hobbypartz.com. The Hobbypartz blue lipos represent good value. The Pro-match are top of the line.. not sure whether they are worth the xtra coin as ebuggies almost have too much power....but that is based on a lot of factors... motor, pinion, batteries, esc, and epa setting on your transmitter.... If you plan on racing go to the track on a practice day/night or well before the race and ask around. It's nice to run what others have for setup and parts availability. Most rc racers are extremely nice and helpful. Before others chime in, there are a lot of great systems out there..... but I am very comfortable with my purchases... I also use a JR servo... which has a 3 year warranty.. a lot of guys like Hitecs... pick your poison.... Last point, I bought two Thunder AC6 chargers for 55 bucks a piece... I love them.... works off of an electrical outlet.. only 1 small drawback.. I can only charge up to 5 amps... but don't thinks it's that big of a deal... You will laugh the first time you experience the power of these vehicles compared to older rc technology..... Feel free to ask us questions....

My old Tamiya Sand scorcher still puts a smile on my face today.
Would'nt mind putting a brushless system in it though (just for a bigger smile°
By the way, Kyosho have just bought out an electric version of there MP7.5 race buggy, it's supposed to be a monster.
