^^^ What he said. If money is really not a concern then look into novarossi or rb products.

So the novarossi would be the engine with the most power and reliability ?? the price didnt look to bad 400 give or take.. i can live with that.

You'd have to check for compatability, but the lrp or picco would be the best bang for the buck. Novas are expensive, but very high quality, something you should get for competition, otherwise it really wouldn't be worth the extra 200 bucks.

if all out power is what you want, no nitro engine will compare to the mamba monster max 2200 kv electric system. i know this is off topic just something to look into-scott.

If you like the smell of the exhaust or to run continuously, the picco .28 with turbo head is the killer engine. The LRP z.28/z30 are are pretty good too.

A modded Picco .28 is where you want to go... The goal is not to spend hundreds cause that won't get you the best.. You want the best? You want an AB or Clockwork modded Picco .28.

And I know working on an SRT10 must be terribly difficult with all those cylinders, but nitro cars are more simple so have a crack at it . By the way, almost every truck here is "custom".

Post pics of your project when you finish if you can.

absolutely not...the Picco is more powerful then the Nova.... The Nova is more refined and has a little better fit and finish....but at your stage of the game would be a waste of money.........Nova's aren't the fastest engines, they are just very well built and usually have a very refined powerband...the Picco is more of a beast with a less refined powerband, but definitely more power...

Aye I'm jealous, that thing must get what... 4mpg? haha I know thats not what its for. Sounds like a bad*** engine build, should haul major ***. I wish I could get my engine swap going in my Fiero, 3.8 supercharged with xp cam and headers back and a small pulley... Good for 350-400rwhp but hey its my DD .

Now get started on the Savage [8D]

Mopar man all the way, that's some sikkk shizzy son.

I's po folks and still run the stock K5.9, but if I had your cash I'd get a Novarossi.
I hear the RB's scream too.
For top power and reliability, Novarossi...
From what I've heard...

I should post pics of my 1980 AMCSpirit DL. Hahaha.

On-topic: I, myself, hate the K5.9. I plan on buying either a Picco 28 or a Picco 28 modded by Supertib

He does the mods himself, he owns that place! Just listen to some YouTube vids of his engines - they rev so high and spool up so fast it hurts your ears! If money's not an object, then also get a buku power pipe to really make it scream! And so you don't fry that pretty little engine you're going to be getting, it's reccommended to get a new gas tank to fix the half tank lean issue. It's just $15 here - http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=∂_id=1704
It's a smaller tank but the first half of the stock tank is wasted running rich anyway so you actually get the same runtime.
And you need a wheelie bar, seriously.
And don't forget to YouTube it running when you're done!

ps. Supertib, what's the sleeve resizing service?
Default RE: What is the best engine for a Savage XL custom

Just got off the phone with Clockworks " Neal" and it looks like were going to do a picco .28 fully tricked out, and his custom pipe and clutch, should push 2.5hp or so.. and since were going with the fully aluminum savage xl it should be the perfect match for a heavy truck. We could get it up to the 3hp mark but Neal says thats just high end hp and a not much tq and we need tons of tq as well... But it looks like were getting closer to getting this party started, Will keep you informed as it comes together..

Thanks for the help guys..

Ps Neal " Clockworks" seams like he will bend over backward to help you out.. good guy..

Good to talk to you today.
