well, my RC10GT is lots of fun, but i want something for the road now...

i am not considering getting a RTR, my first one was one, so i could understand how it works before building it...

so i want a good On-road car, no RTR, who can run in competition and hold his own (not really own anyone, because i'm not the best driver yet anyway), and it HAS to be 4WD.

i was considering the HPI RS4 with a WRX Body, since i love that car, but realized its pretty high for a on road car.

price range would be about $500 for everything except the radio control (erm, ya know, that thing you hold in your hand..) since i'll use the one for my RC10GT for awhile...

Your budget will get you started on a good race quality car.

NTC3, V1RR (or the V1RR II when it comes out), Trinity G4, MTX3, etc. Invest on good car, engine, and radio. Practice, go race, and have fun.

These cars are competition cars out of the box. I am not sure about the NTC3 but everything else I mentioned comes with two speed tranny.

If you are looking to race then the above mentioned cars are great. I would not get the only HPI I would get is the R40. But I would get the MTX-3. I am a TC3 owner, but the T3 is kinda out dated. Yes it works and it works well but If I had it to do all over again I would probally get a MTX-3 and learn to drive with a one way from the begining. If you want to be competitive starting driving witha oneway from the begining.

I used to bew an HPI fan until I got a NTC3. NTC3 Kit is an excellent car. the MTX-3 is also a great car the parts are limited in most hobby shops.

The new HPI R40 looks really good.I saw a video of it driving on a track and all I can say is WOW.I think it was mostly the driver but the car was running extremely well. The only thing with the R40 is that it doesn't come with an engine or radio gear witch might put you over your budget of 500 since the car is pretty expensive because it's new.Tower has them for 320 so that leaves you with 180 for the engine and servo's.180 is enough for a decent engine but you'll still need servo's and backup parts.
