The Waco war bird in TX rained out.
We started off with a 40% chance of rain but took the chance anyway. Drove 103 miles got there setup mingled and registered, saw several birds fly, about to get my nerve up to fly and all of a sudden a report comes in, heavy thunder storms 4 miles out heading our way just about that time the winds started kicking up I was able to tear down just in time. The fact that I had paid my $20 and was left with nothing not even my free lunch erks me a bit but as I stated it was a chance.

Tis a bummer when the weather won't cooperate!
Saturday's winds were interesting. Out at the field (Georgetown, Tx) winds were light out of the south during the morning, around noon, they switched to the North at about 5mph. (Forecast had been calling for <10mph south winds all day)
About 1:00pm I took my Simple Flyer up and within 5 minutes the winds kicked up to 15-20 mph in about 2 minutes . Have fun flying backwards for a few minutes, winds at about 200ft must of been 30-35+.
Shortly after landing, we were hit with gusts that had to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 35mph. Dust blowing everywhere. Fortunatly, no one was flying at that time, we all were packing up. (and holding things down! )
And no rain either, we do need it....
Such Fun!
