Hearts Of Ohio Jet Scramble (Who is going?)
This is one of the best jet events in USA. Well organized, full scale runway, ample parking space, large startup area and ramp. This is a must attend jet event for all you jet heads. BTW, according to BigT, the full scale F-100 will do another afterburner pass again this year. (Aug. 22-24)

Get there early
If you go to the USAF Museum make sure to get there early enough to take the tour over to the R&D Hangar. They are expanding the museum and alot of the planes have been moved from their normal places. I believe that is where they are storing the XB-70 until the new section is completed. At least, that's the way it was during the Dayton Airshow July 18th. That is a must see. Aside from that you'll really enjoy the modern gallery with a BUFF, the SR-71, F-111, YF-22, and several others.
I'll be there on Saturday as a spectator taking notes as well. I've already got the equipment but am still finishing my planes.

Scott,
Dennis is not making it to this one, it will be Vernon, Rick, and myself. You better start counting your flights this weekend if you want to outfly me.

Seriouly, plan a full day at that museum. I have never been into the R&D part, but the rest of it is amazing. Don't limit yourself, take the whole tour.
My favorite......up close and personal with an X-15....unreal.

X-15
I think the R&D used to be called the Presidential planes hangar. It is over on Wright Patt and you have to go through a little security check and bus ride to get there. The tours booked up when I was there so I couldn't go see exactly what they had but the museum staff said that was where they were keeping the planes that weren't on display in their normal locations. The X-15 was one that wasn't on display. You can get up close and personal with an SR-71. It wasn't even roped off. You could pretty much do anything but climb on it or get in the cockpit.

G4guy, where do you guys fly near Pittsburgh?
Is that a 52% BD?
Are you guys talking about the restoration area of the museum? You can watch them working on restorations and sneek out back and see old parts laying around, like original V2 rocket parts, old jet engines, and many one-off planes you only see on "Wings".

We are from the Mon Valley R/C Club. The Field is located in Cedar Creek park. It is near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Route 51 about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh. Those are my 2 Roo's,and the Caproni and the BD-5J are another club member's. He built and constructed all the molds for the planes. The Caproni has flown in primer and is one of the nicest flying jets I have flown. The BD-5J is 55% and has a wingspan of over 9'. Power is the new AMT-400. Test flights will be very soon.

Were mowing and cleaning getting Darby Dan ready for the big event. Got some great goodies for the pilots, and some awesome new shirts and hats.(changed the logo a bit) Jet A will be for sale all weekend for anybody that needs any. Our organization is really looking forward to welcoming everyone to Heart of Ohio once again. The locals are abuzz about the event, so the crowds should be huge. Can't wait to see BV fly by in the back seat of the Hun! Everyone have a safe trip, prepare to party, and we'll see you next week! Big T
