Bigger Engine; What would happen?
I find myself in the position to buy a new engine for my Savage X 4.6. I've been generally looking around and am curious as to how the Savage would behave if i were to drop in the XL's 5.9 engine. I would like to know from the more experienced if it would be fun or more of a headache? Or would it just stress a hobbyist's skill?

It would be more finiky to tune and a less reliable engine. The F4.6 is a good engine. If you want a true upgrade then go for the LRP .30 or Picco .28

The 5.9 is not an upgrade. It is bigger, but it is not stronger and way more of a hassle. Like jbooker said, the LRP28 or 30,Losi 454, Picco 28 are up better, stronger engines.

RE: Bigger Engine; What would happen?
in reference to your question for a k5.9, you'll be running a lot of wheelies, there will be a lot more strain on the truck since the power is greater, and you will also need to upgrade to a more suitable pipe, the cen with a k5.9 is good
my advise to you is rather than a k5.9, try out the lrp range
some upgrade their 4.6 to a lrp .28 or .30
you'll find it worth while to ignore the k5.9 and go with the lrp, i haven't got one yet, but i hear a lot of good feedback about it. quality engine with easy tuning, plus its cheaper than a k5.9... my next engine, just waiting for my k4.6 to die, too dang reliable hehe
goodluck with whatever you do get
