Didn't they check the Airport info before flying in? I don't think that guy knew the runway length or he may have had a complete brake failure but man did he come in hot!!!

RE: F-16 off the end of runway at Oshkosh.
Standard procedure when landing an F16 is to hold the nose wheel off to help slow the plane down with aerodynamic braking. Saves the brakes.
In the video I didn't notice any tire smoke from brakes locking up. Not sure if it was brake failure. The second F16 did appear to land faster than the first so who knows what the real cause was.

Is the runway too short, or is there too much "nose wheel in the air" show-boating going on ?

The F-16...
A Lean, Mean, Flameout Machine.
I SHALL RETURN...Well, I might.
Takes a licking and...takes a licking.
Have you hugged your chute today?
This Vehicle Makes Frequent Stops.
I came. I saw. I bingo'd.
No deposit, no return.
We've spent so much money on this thing that we can't afford to admit
we were wrong.
A triumph of style over substance.
The best darn second place fighter in the world.
Instead of a CAS [Close Air Support] mod, we're going to install a
roll bar.
And now with this LANTIRN thing and our new Block 40's, we can hit the
ground at night, too!
Crunch all you want...we'll make more.
We cover the target like a thong bikini.
And BINGO is my Name-O.
We crash more airplanes before 9-o'clock than most people crash all
day.
A war record exceeding even the B-1.
Last in the talent show, but first in the swimsuit competition.
Lose a few...lose a few.
Feet and knees together, eyes on the horizon...
Designated no-hitter.
Everything you wanted in a fighter...and less.
Optimist: F-16 Pilot who's worried about dying from cancer.
Only Michael Jackson is more manly.
Hey, today we didn't lose a single jet.
This is going to hurt me more than its going to hurt you.
User friendly...if you've got three hands.
Careful badguys...I'm carrying BOTH bombs today. I'm talkin'
wall-to-wall Mark-82s, pal.
If I carried more weapons, and if
I had enough gas, and if
I could actually hit the target, and if
I had some more REALLY expensive electronics so I could find you,
and if my motor didn't quit, and if
My wings didn't crack,
Boy, I'd really teach you a lesson!

....and, judging by the smoke, they didn't exactly have a headwind either!?
Somebody is in trouble!

Was just talking to one of my pilots here that has flown into thier a few times and he said that jets land on the shorter of the 2 runways and must land in one direction even if its a tailwind.

RE: F-16 off the end of runway ar Oshkosh.
Beave,
Wow! We had a few of those lines in the Tomcat community regarding the mighty Viper, but you listed a few I missed over the years! Someone else already mentioned it, but pics 11 and 12 clearly show the engine trying (unsuccessfully) to digest a lot of dirt and grass. Talk about FOD!
Regards,
Gus

from the tail art that was the alabama air national guard unit? I actually talked to this unit when I was in Iraq about coming over to fly with them.

Joking aside, I feel for the guy. Some of the old sayings are funny. But regardless, I and some other dudes, including good friends owe their lives to the commitment and bravery of some Viper drivers. One of whom gave his life providing close air support when things in Iraq got really hot one night.
Tip a glass to this guy and his comrades. I will.
