They're not necessary. On a high bite track or something they can help, but there's nothing that a swaybar will do that won't be better if you read up on roll centers, damping, and shock position and learn to tune with them.

Yeah these trucks have more body roll than a full sized cargo van. But one thing I've noticed is that it doesn't actually seem to effect the performance that much (at least to me. It may be different for you). It just looks strange when the body pivots so much.
