I recall seeing a Model Airplane News article about the 2007 US Scalemasters. Ed Buchholz won the Engeneering Achievement award with his P-39 with the engine mounted in the scale location.

The P-39 is one of my favorites, I've built 3 in various scales. I've always dreamed about building one with the engine in the scale location. I'm hoping someone may see read this that knows Ed or may know how I can reach him. I'd like to ask him how he cooled the engine, extended the shaft, and how much weight it took to balance it.

I've looked into the liquid cooled MVVS engine and several prop shaft extension ideas but I'd love to make contact with Ed. I believe he recently competed at Top Gun with a Ziroli Staggerwing and lives in Sarasota.

Any help would be appreciated.

there maybe be a build on RCscalebuilder where a DO-335 has the engine mounted in the scale location(mid)........
