You lucky dog. Getting a Summit for your first RC. And you hillbilly putting balls on your truck LMAO. but there is A LOT of upgrades for that truck. and really far down the line you can get a brushless setup for it and then you could get 50+ with that bad boy

RE: Traxxas Summit
If you go brushless, do it right and put a sensored setup in it.
Otherwise, you're going to kill what makes this truck great.
The best part of this truck is it's low speed abilities.
Put a BL setup in it and you'll have to be very careful about locking the diffs.
The Summit is one of the few trucks left that really benefits from keeping a brushed setup in it.
Plus, you no longer have a waterproof truck if you go brushless. Something else to consider, depending on how you use it.
Otherwise, you're going to kill what makes this truck great.

In other words, it is pretty much an e-revo to me with a few tricks.

RE: Traxxas Summit
We need a summit thread around here. I did some searching and it seems the summit thread that was on RCU was shut down a while ago due to people bickering. Surely there are enough fans of this truck around here to give it another go. If there is a more recent active summit thread that I have missed could someone point me in its direction.

Lol yeah ive noticed...it does everything i want it to do stock. The only thing im thinking of doing is upgrading to lipos.

I have a pair of the 8200s, and Iget 35-45 minutes of hard bashing time out of them in my Revo. I have yet to hit LVC with them in my Summit. Iusually end up getting bored or needing to leave before the batteries run down on me.
Kenny...this thread is as good as any for the Summit discussion, as far as I am concerned.
Summit..get rid of the balls and get the roof rack lights!

There is a group of people taking the summit body off and adding a 1970's Tonka metal jeep body. Then they drive their TonkaSummits with virtual reality goggles with FPV gear.

Haven't tried the trenchers but proline make good tires. The stock servos will do the job (IMO they are a bit weak) but if you were thinking of upgrading the new hitec waterproof servos look pretty good. They are pretty new to the market and I haven't heard much about them but I would love to get my hands on a couple, as far as I know they are the only aftermarket waterproof servo available and you can't go wrong with hitec.
