Default Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch not what I want?

So I purchased a Turnigy receiver switch as my plan was to use the channel 3 of my futaba t3prka make the lights turn on and off. I have yet to figure out how to install it but have been looking at youtube videos and I dont think its what I actually need.

This is what I have:
Futaba T3PRKA - Transmitter
Futaba R203GF - Receiver
Traxxas VXL-M - Motor/ESC
3 Racing Led System - Lights

Now the 3 Racing Led System does exactly what I want. It gives me all the light settings I want, turn, reverse, brake. Again I have not figured out how to use the Turnigy switch, but believe when I do all it will do is TURN ON the lights (which is what I want, but I want the turn, reverse, brake etc thing to work). Has anyone used this on an RC car with the same intentions I have with roughly the same type of parts? Cause I see no way for this thing to control the led system when there are 2 slots for those 3 pin things. Only 1 switch. And the Y cable plugs in to the LED system and servo/esc, which seems like it would be by-passing the switch entirely, but even if I figure out how to plug the switch into the led system it wouldnt know when im turning, braking, or anything.

Please let me know as I really want to turn on lights wirelessly using the transmitter

I think you can easily get it to turn all the lights off and on, but it will be more difficult to have it do just the headlights.

pretty sure the kit you got hooks to chan 1 and 2 only
If so don't use the LED's for the headlights and get http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1210 and hok it to channel 3. I use that in 2 RC's as a simple switch. Just run 2 LED's in series (with a low resister like 100 ohms and lower) from the load supply pin to mosfet output pin. that WILL turn the lights on and off with channel 3's button

I've been tempted to get the turnigy kit for the turn signals in my SCX10 which has the pollux thing controlling its 8 headlights.

It is 1 and 2 channel as the brakes lights and brake lights use channel 2, while the turn signals use 1. You said you used that pololu thing? Does that support what I want it to do. Again I know nothing of RC cars at all, but from what I can tell is the Y harness needs to be plugged in to the unit, receiver, and led system in each channel so one can detect turning and the other can detect forward and backwards.

But in my head if I only have channel 3 plugged on the receiver and split that cord in to 2 and 3 it would still be only looking for signals sent to channel (3 which would I dont even know what that would be listening for from the tranmitter) in to the the led system it wont be able to detect I am turning and going forward.

Would I need some sort of way to kill power to the LED system so it doesnt light up until it receives power from channel 3? I can probably test this out when I get home using the power switch the transmitter came with with some soldering.

Could someone please correct me if I am wrong about my thought process of what I need to do to make it work? Or at least tell me what the colors on the 3 wires that plug into those 3 pin slots on the receiver do?

Ie red +, black -, white ground? (I forgot what colors are on the wire)

white is signal on RC wires

well I'd recommend the pollux thing only for the headlights it will supply the power itself to the headlights. When I get some time(and locate the camera) I'll take a pic of my TC that I have healights in to show how easy it was to wire, and how damn tiny the thing is (I mean its really tiny)

Default RE: Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch not what I want?

Do they make a 3 cord on/off switch? The one I have is only 2 (black/red) and for the LED unit to light up it requires the signal wire to touch at least once to turn on, but if I remove the white one after its on it stays on.

If not what is the RC term for the cord (mainly the end clip). It took me 3 days to find out I need a "2 pin molex" to add additional lights.

Thank you again

Super old post, joined this forum just to answer it for other people that may encounter the same issue. <div>What you want to do is cut the headlight wire and put the switch in between either the positive side or negative (depending what you cut) that way only the headlights will remain off until you hit the switch</div>
