Default sealing decals on solartex

I've got the BalsaUSA Eindecker covered in Solartex - and it looks good. I spray painted the white backgrounds for the Maltese Crosses and those look good, too. The Crosses provided are water-type decals. After I applied the decals (and painted some weathering on the rest of it), I sealed the whole thing with clear Lustrekote. When that dried, the decals had curled up, cracked, and broken off in places. What did I do wrong?

(I've searched the threads on sealing decals, but couldn't find anything to this point.) Thanks!
