Suggestions on linkage on SE with Saito 72?
I'm building the Somethin Extra with a Saito 72. This means I have a throttle linkage challange. I would like some suggestions on how to solve this. I've come up with a couple of ideas, but would like to get some words of wisdom from those who have crossed this bridge already.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The best way to run a throttle cable on a 4 stroker is to run the wire out past the carb about 2" to 2 1/2" or so then loop it back. That way it will flex as the throttle barrel moves in and out.
I like to use a piece of music wire that's about 1/32" thick.

OK, I must be dense, but neither of these answers make any sense to me. On the flex cable, that is the same thing that comes with the kit, but the cable comes out of the bulkhead high on the right side of the plane, the carb arm is on the left side. Even if I reverse the carb, the cable is still well to the right, and well below, where the carb input arm is. jhart, can you post a pic of how you did yours. You know, it's that thousand words thing.
On the wire suggestion, it makes no sense with what I'm seeing unless your assuming the linkage comes out somewhere near the carb input arm, which it doesn't. Again, the top hole in the arm is an inch to the left and 3/4" above where the wire comes through the bulkhead.

On a Funtana & a T-34, I mounted a micro servo (GWS) to the firewall. Engine (Saito .72 GK's) mounted w/ cyl. to one side, needle pointing up, exhaust down. Linkage runs horizontal behind engine. Had to snip & repositon the throttle arm to clear fire wall on Funtana. Used Dubro ball links. No slop.

Allen, I like that idea and will file it away for future use, but on this plane I don't want to put any more weight toward the front then necessary and there really isn't any room on the backside of the bulkhead.
I'm disappointed that I haven't gotten more help from the forum on this question. I know people have done this. Isn't there someone with an SE with a the Saito 72 on it that can just post a pic of what they did???
Thanks again Allen for trying to help!

I will post a pic of mine with a direct cable as soon as I get home from work. Look for it about 5:15-5:30 pm EDT

Bob, I think I just figured out why you're confused. Yes the throttle tube is on the wrong side for a Saito 72. I just left the old one there and put a new on on the left side. It's a little snug but it works fine. Hope the pics help.

Thanks Jhart!! That was one of the solutions I was looking at but the input arm was so close to the side, I didn't think it would work well. I'll just relieve some of that side like you did. I was actually hoping to come up with a way to keep the original cable position and reverse the carb where the needle valve would be on the opposite side, away from the muffler, but I can't see a good scheme to do that.
Thanks again for taking the time to post the pics!
