GP Super Chipmunk Elevators
In the assembly manual for my GP Super Chipmunk ARF, it states that the plane should be set up with different elevator throws. Not just the normal High/Low rates but left and right as well.
On low rates it states Left 1" and Right 5/8" . High Rates 1.25" (left) and 1" ( right).
Can anyone explain why this is so and is it mandatory?
Also what is the impact if one chooses not to set up the model this way?
The rest of the model is pretty standard and it has a DLE 20 in it.
Thanks,

RE: GP Super Chipmunk Elevators
I set the throws equel and started at the low end and then adjusted it a little after I flew it a few times. I put a G-20 in mine. Flaps are very good and will slow the plane down BUT remember to carry a little power until your ready to flare it.

RE: GP Super Chipmunk Elevators
The manual that I found for the GP Super Chipmunk with 81 inch wingspan gives the chart below for the control throws. This chart does not tell me to use different throws for each side of the elevator. It does say to use different throws for up vs down on the elevator.
Ed
Wingspan: 81 in [2060mm]
Wing Area: 1000 sq in [64.5 dm2]
Weight: 13-14 lb [5900–6350g]
Wing Loading: 29–32oz/sq ft [88–98g/dm2]
Length: 62.5 in [1590mm]
Radio: 6-channel with seven servos
Engine: .91 – 1.08 cu in [15–17.5cc] two-stroke or
1.20 cu in [20cc] four-stroke engine
These are the recommended control surface throws:
ELEVATOR:
High Rate
1" [25mm] up
1-1/4" [32mm] down
Low Rate
5/8" [57mm] up
1" [25mm] down
