RE: Fuel soaked wood
Corn Starch also works very well. And for wood that is really soaked cover it with corn starch then crank up your monokote iron and heat it up it will boil a lot of the oil out of the wood and the corn starch will absorb it.

I saw a few posts that said k2r was also named "Spot Shot carpet stain remover". I tried it, seems to work...
I found Spot Shot at Wally world, Lowes, Home Depot, Kmart, etc..

I don't think they make K2R anymore, you might find a can here and there in a small store. But Spot Shot is not the same as K2R, it works but K2R dries into a powdery residue, making it easy to vacuum off, Spot Shot does not, so it becomes necessary to use a towel to bloat it out.
Sprayaway spotlifter is suppose to work like the old K2R . I placed an order for a couple of cans off the net, I'll post the finding when I receive my order.

RE: Fuel soaked wood
I just got a can of K2R off the net - The can says its the "New Formula". I sprayed it on some fuel soaked plywood and let it sit for a couple of days, BUT it never turned into a "powdery residue" that I could clean off. Am I doing something wrong? or is the "New Formula" no longer effective?
Thanks

Erm, maybe "powdery" isn't the most exact description. I had to use if when the tank on my sister's trainer leaked...it can be more of a "flaky" white residue. Either way, it's mostly dy.

You might try CRC Brake cleaner found in auto parts stores.
Use in a well ventilated area but it works great.
You might have to look out for some plastic parts as it will attack certain varieties.

I can swear by Sprayaway. I bought a can over the net for $5, and love the stuff. Spray it on the balsa and leave it for an hour or so, and when you come back, the balsa is like new.

"It never turned into a powdery residue"
Guys - think about it - the stuff is there to absorb oil and methanol ..it typically becomes a sticky mess (the first few attempts) that more or less has to be scraped off or cleaned off with meths!
