Default 3W60 won't start

Hi Guys, I have a 3W60 that's been lying around waiting for me to finish my YA Spit. Went to bench run it and it won't start (My arm is killing me LOL). I rebuilt the carb last year and made sure everything was in the right place. I also made sure it was pumping frm the tank to the carb and the carb was good and wet. It fired off the prime and then wouldn't start. Somewhere I read there is a safety feature in the ignition which BTW is an older 4.8 V. I also replaced the plug with a new one just to try to eliminate obvious things. Any help would be appreciated. The plane is ready so I would like to install the engine knowing it will start. Thanks in advance. Oh ya, there is a reed on 3W but I'm not sure if they go bad over time without being used.

Fuel or fire.

If it fired off the prime you're getting a spark so you have a fuel draw problem or your needles are closed too far.

Needles are set at one full turn. It's drawing fuel from the tank to the carb but not entering the engine?

Make sure the screen inside the carb is clean.

I would open both needles two turns. Take the plug out and prime the cylinder with a few drops of gas. Test for spark while the plug is out.

No spark so I sent it to Gerhard. What's weird is it popped on the prime yesterday so it had to have had a spark. Today, no spark go figure.

Sounds like a 3w plug boot failure. Very common ...

I would have Gerhard send you a spare cap kit when he ships it back to you. You may find that it will be handy to have when you are off at a fly-in and it wont start again .
Been there - done that!!!
