Servo operated canopy locks
Looking for some good ways to lock my canopy on my T-33 via a servo. I am using a linear actuator for the canopy movement itself. Any and all pictures welcome.

I know how to set it up radio wise. I am looking more for a good lock. The best I have come up with is a candy cane shape that pivots in the middle and slides through the canopy frame and then the upper portion of the hook presses down on the frame. Quick crappy paint drawing. Red is open blue is closed and locked.

Henry from HVM Models came up with a great system. Sorry, I didn't take a photo but I'll do my best to describe it here.
Cut a slot on each side of the canopy frame near the front. Cut a hook shaped piece of brass from sheet stock, insert the hook through the slot so that the hook is facing down. Hysol it into place.
Cut a matching slot on each side of the flange on the fuselage such that when the canopy closes, the hooks fit through the slot. Get a couple of lengths of K&S square brass tubing sized such that one tube fits inside the other. Cut a slot in the larger tube and glue it to the underside of the flange so that the slot in the tube lines up with the slot in the flange. Slide the smaller tube into the larger tube and connect it to a servo to move the smaller tube and adjust the end point of the movement so that the end of the smaller tube extends into the slot and engages the hook.

I used one servo with an air valve and a BVM air switch so it only used one channel. So mine is air operated but you can make it servo also. The lock is on the front and it sits under the glare sheild. When the canopy gets low enough it hits the BVM air switch that locks it with the locking air cylinder. Would be easy to program a delay also and use a servo. All I used was an old HD servo horn I cut into shape for a hook. This way it not only locks the canopy but also pulls it down for a better seal.

George, I looked at Details4scale and I saw them with the cockpit kits but not by themselves. Was going to call them and see if they had them solo but thought I would ask around to see what guys are doing.
