Overall make sure the gears have the appropriate mesh and minimal backlash I typically use a notebook page, mash it between the gears and tighten the bolts. When I pull out the strip of paper, it comes out with a nice and sharp "accordion fold" to it. This gives me the best approximation to the correct mesh.

Then the question would be, Which gears? There is very little you can do to the tail gears if you have a torque tube driven helicopter. Keeping the tail out of obstacles is about the only thing. Extend your landing gear if you have to. If it is not the tail gears, then it is the main gear and pinion. Follow the suggestion above, and use a soft start on the ESC or throttle up slowly if it is a nitro.
