Cheap Combat Planes
Hello guys, how many of you are ready for Joe Nall 2015! Me too, except for one thing. I dont have a combat plane! i was wondering what good combat planes there are, that could be completed -transmitter, for under $100. It could be a kit, or scratch built, but it has to be ready before i leave for joe nall.
If yall could help me that would be great, i cant wait for joe nall! Thanks and have a nice day!

My club flies 25 size combat nearly every weekend. Club combat, so not a lot of overhead like score keeping. But nearly all of us fly a old kit called the phencepost. Visit our website and follow navigation to Hat Trick RC. You will have to correspond with Mike Fredricks. He does not do alot of kit production but the price is reasonable and the combat kits are rugged and an easy build.

I built my 1/12th scale Spitefulls, Spitfire with a laminar flow P51 wing, from urethane foam and brownpaper applied with PVA glue. The cowlls were made by heat shrinking a plastic coke bottle over a balsa mold. They were surprisingly strong and very easy to repair even in the field.
,
The TA 152 has to have a glassed wing one ounce cloth onto bare foam. 1/2 oz is not strong enough [ ask me how I know ]
Rattle can silver and then some brushed on fuel proofer. Brushing nose to tail gives streaks that are very lifelike. Dave Platt taught me how to do this many many years ago.
The cost of each model was less than $10 without hardware. Would have been even less if I had gone scavenging foam off building sites. You are not likely to build for less.
SPADS are cheap but they do not fly anywhere near as well.

My home field every week, electric. It's fun and it doesn't require much setback or area. Not as thrilling as screaming IC's and nothing as satisfying as the old Class C SPAD Slugfests. But it's combat. HOR's are fun to play with and the GNAT class got a revisit in the last couple years. But if I get to go back and do Friday night fights it will be electric little flitters.
I'll still rock the joint, of course.

what type of combat planes are you looking for Tora? streamer type with the RCCA rules? just a little club combat? full contact with e power? what type of combat is beeing done at Joe Nall?
If its just the full contact e-power, go to flitetest.com and build a dollar tree foamboard flying wing and have fun

Thank you very much J.Dunker, that sounds like a very nice airplane, if I every get that far into combat, those sound like great ideas. I will have to remember this for later, thanks! - Ethan. H

Great video skullman! Truly amazing flight! If i get far into combat, I very well may get one of those Bandits for myself, but i have to say, I am starting to become a 3D guy. I actually bought an EF Extra 300 a few months ago and it is the most thrilling thing to fly, I bet it gives you a rush close to that of when your in combat! Thanks! - Ethan.H

I actually built myself a FT Spitfire and Mustang at Nall in the flight test build tent. it was a great experience, and even though it was damaged in an accident on the way back, the one flight on it was awesome! I think i like you guys' idea of electric combat now Clean and draftman1, Joe Nall was a great experience, and electric combat is too! - Ethan.H
