Biodiesel blend experiences?
Any long term experience with biodiesel blended fuels?
I live near Chicago and K-1 kero is easy to get but nearly impossible to find straight diesel. Today I went to 5 different stations and thanks to IL state tax incentives all they sell is 5-20% biodiesel blends. All the pumps have a label like one below. I inquired at a few stations and was told most are close to 20% biomass or B20 grade. Although I did hear Meijer's has straight diesel but have not verified yet.
Although not totally related I find it interesting that Mercedes Bluetech engines have had so many issues with IL biodiesel blended fuels they put out a document warning of clogged filter and injector deposits...

So playing it safe I ended up just buying more kerosene. I have used K-1 since I started turbines back in the late 90's with absolutely no issues. However I have been watching the diesel trend for a while now and still considering giving a NON-bio blend diesel a try someday.
Any thoughts from those who actually know or have bio blended experience?

Scott,
Barry had tried Biodiesel many years ago and he said it worked fine but had a HORRIBLE SMELL!! I think it was more of a pure Biodiesel and probably not a blended version. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. You will not void your warranty.
