Default Find Replacement Part - Spektrum S608

Hey Folks..

My Google'fu is usually pretty good I need some help. My son got a new RC car for his Birthday. It was bought by a family member out of province so going back to the shop is not an option..

Anyways, the steering started clicking in the servo after a few crashes. I pulled the servo out to order a replacement. Its Spektrum S608. Searching I cannot find reference to the S608 on Spektrum's website. I am guessing this is just one of the cheap servo's they sell in lower end cars maybe?

Anyone know what a replacement for the S608 would be, maybe something with metal gears for a little more durability?

Thanks in advance folks!

Mike

Ok.. Thanks for pointing me towards the vehicle.. I should have thought of it before..

It's a S6170 according to this site..

Am I safe ordering up a S6170 even though its an S608 in it? Is it worth finding a metal gear replacement for it rather then plastic?

Thanks folks!

Last post and I will wait for some feedback... I promise ;-)

Now I see there are replacement gearsets for the Servos (forgive my ignorance I am new at this).

Any thoughts/guess if I order a replacement gear set for the S6170 if it will fit the S608 that I have? Can you replace plastic gears with metal?

Or am I better of just driving an an hour or so to the city and visit a hobby shop and we can test out some options?

Thanks!

Mike

There are plenty of servos out there that would fit the bill. Over the years, Hitec has been the "go to" servo brand for me... Hitec HS-625MG High-Speed 2BB Metal Gear Servo

If you want even better performance...Hitec HS-5625MG Digital High-Speed Metal Gear BB Servo

Thanks Rusty...

That one is slightly smaller then the S6170..Not drastically so I guess it will fit fine. I think I may go hit up a couple hobby shops when I get a chance. It will be more money but nice to build up a relationship with someone in the area...

Cheers,

Mike

I just replaced the cheapo one in my ECX Circuit. Wouldn't even turn the wheels at a full stop, and slow response. I replaced it with this. An Arrma ADS-7 V2 7KG Waterproof Servo.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEPYG

Now the wheels turn at a dead stop and much faster response. It has dual ball bearings, metal gears and won't break the bank. Got mine from Ebay for 19.00, but if you can find a hobby store carrying Arrma vehicles you should be able to get one. May have to order it, but I know it will fit and work well. Very happy with mine so far. Bashed it pretty hard 2 weeks ago. It's on the bench for repairs, but the servo is fine.
