Default Slowing a Car

Hi
My 6 year old Grandson has a 1/12th scale RC Banger which currently runs on 4.8v, MTroniks Oval ESC withFlySky GT3 Tx & RX. Try as I might I cannot slow the car down. Despite changing the drive pinion and spur gear the thing is still like a supercharged hornet and it's just too fast for him and I'm concerned that he's going to lose interest in the sport. Currently the car is within all the build rules and if possible I want to keep it that way. I have tried programming the ESC, the TX, even putting a block behind the trigger, all to no avail. All he does is bounce off the sides of the track (Oval Racing).
Any other ideas please?

Turn down the throttle EPA (End Point Adjustment) on the transmitter. If you do indeed have a FS-GT3, you will scroll down the menu until you see "E POINT". You can then set the maximum throttle (TH) you want allowed. The forward throttle parameter is under the "UP" column. I'd probably set the maximum throttle to 65% and see how that goes.
