Default DLE 55 won't start

I have a new never run DLE 55 that won't start or even fire. This is an older version with the tube coming from the carb block and into the carb for pressure. Brief history: Tried different plugs, different ignition, checked
timing (28 degrees btdc), needles in correct range, fresh 91 octane gas, checked and sanded connecting block for straightness, reed closure seems to be ok. About 100 turns and not even a pop. Took both covers
off the carb and all "appeared" to be ok. Plug was getting wet so I know it was getting some fuel. Finally out of frustration I mounted a carb from a DLE 20 and after a few flips it fired and finally ran. Only ran it for a
short while as it was getting late in the evening. I could just replace the carb but I'd like to find and possibly fix the problem with this carb. Anyone have any idea as to what might be the problem; this carb had never
had fuel in it before. Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions!

Just replace the carb, the cost versus the aggravation and time dicking with a bad one isn't worth it.

The DLE20 engine uses an internal pulse port. The older 55 you say has an external pulse port. How did you get the DLE20 carb to work/pump fuel?

Are you sure of the pulse signal on the 55? Any possibility the pulse line or one of the ports is obstructed somehow? Is the 55 reed block drilled for an internal pulse port?

Simple matter of exchanging the carb cap from the 55 to the 20 carb, everything else "there" is the same. Reed block not drilled for internal pulse port and no obstructions in line or ports.
Didn't actually check the pulse signal but good idea, I will do that next time I look at it. Thanks.

I say because it has been seating for so long without fuel the carb parts are dry and hard, replace those parts, the kit is inexpensive, any lawn mower shop will have them.

K20-WAT is the kit you need

Thanks for the part #! I think I'll give that a try before I replace the carb.
