Slash brushed to brushless choices
Hi,
I'm looking to change my 2WD Slash from brushed to brushless. I would like some thoughts and recommendations on what motor, esc or combo to use. Our racing classes allow 2S or 3S. Please be as specific as possible and include names/designations of motors or ESC's and where to buy them.
Thank you in advance.

Here are a few choices:
https://www.horizonhobby.com/velineo...-1-10-tra3350r
https://www.horizonhobby.com/sidewin...2-cse010012302
https://www.horizonhobby.com/ProductDisplay?product_identifier_token=product&ur lRequestType=Base&catalogId=10051&productId=879517 &errorViewName=ProductDisplayErrorView&urlLangI d=-1&langId=-1&top_category=&parent_category_rn=58001&storeId=1 0151
Also if you are planning on running 3-cell packs then you have to do a lot more to the truck to make it reliable. 3-cells tend to rip trucks apart.

Typically for 2WD SCT racing, I would start with a 7.5T motor for a reasonable power source and I would stay away from 3S unless you were going to run a 550 motor in a 4WD SCT.
For a reasonable budget I'd go with the Rocket Racing motors:
https://www.rcjuice.com/motor-esc/br...red-motor.html
Unfortunately they're out of stock right now
I've got a brand new unopened box for a Trinity Nemesis 7.5T that I'll sell for $45 shipped.
For a budget ESC this one here isn't half bad:
https://www.rcjuice.com/motor-esc/ca...-esc-2-6s.html
You kinda get what you pay for, so if you want a quality ESC then I'd go with this one here:

Moved the thread to Electric Off-Road section, you'll get more views here.
For your question, look at what your track runs. If its a small track made for 1/10 scale vehicles, you might not need more than a 10.5T motor. You want to be competitive, but not so blazing fast that you break all the time!

thats only my suggest, as i am newbie too ~ lol.. it allowed you to gear up the optional provided gearing, even upper , just test the temp always.
once going advance, i am thinking get get a better quality combo ~ ^^ that's only my advise, depends yourself.
good luck.

if ya racing on dirt, leave it brushed...... otherwise if u slap a 120a ESC in there with a 550 motor 2/3 of the throttle range will be useless(instant wheelspin)
id reccomend checking out some of the 2wd slash races on youtube..... its not exactly high speed racing, more of a derby lol
