American Heritage Museum visit
Took the day off to visit the museum, it's about a two hour drive for me. Decided to go on a weekday hoping it would be less crowded. They have an event for this weekend and since most people that would visit would attend the event there were not a lot of visitors when I was there. Definitely visit if you can, the tanks and vehicles are set up by campaign/time and they are put in diorama type settings, not just parked in a spot for display. They also have stowage that enhance the display, the M18 Hellcat has spent cartridges on its back deck! There are short theater presentations when you first go in and also some out on the floor. The Panther, T34/85 setup has a video that enacts combat between the two tanks with the end result of smoke pouring out the T34's turret, it was GREAT!
My wife enjoyed the visit and that's saying a lot, she has been to many tank museums with me over the years and pretty much just tags along. Here are a few shots, I took a ton of pictures and when I get my web design software working I'll update my website a post a lot more. There's a catwalk where you are above all the vehicles which is great because you can look down on them and view the insides, great for open top vehicles like the halftracks. Then you step down to the floor and can walk right up to them for close inspection, but don't touch!

Deja Vu, went there myself about 10 days ago! Took my father. Made the drive down during a family trip mostly because the Jumbo and Hetzer were in Phoenix a few years back and I got to play with them a bit. We basically had the place to ourselves! Got some extra Sheridan research in too!

Thanks for sharing the photos. Love the Panther A and the Hetzer. Got any of the Stug III G?

I have a number of photos from when Littlefield was restoring the StuG III and later the Panther. It was an interesting process..
I must say while I was skeptical at first it seems that museum back east has definitely done right by the pieces of JL's collection that they kept.

They have done really well to make it a destination. Making the trip in COVID land made it interesting as there were only about 6 other people there at the same time. The poor docent was so bored he followed us around the whole 2 hours and while he did stump me right off the bat, I held my own on facts and stories about most of the vehicles!
