Default Jet Engine

I would like to purchase a Kingtech jet engine. On the website I checked there listed as back order in one location and another location has would take 2 weeks to process. Anyone have experience with this. I'm ok with 2 weeks. Just wouldn't want it to be a 6 month wait.

I called last week for stock status of a K70. None in stock, maybe this week.
I am with you, I don't want to pay and wait, who knows what can happen six months from now.
I will call later this week, perhaps you should consider calling too.
best luck

Thanks for your answer. I did call . The person I talk with had a foreign accent and I could not understand much of what they were saying and by what they were saying to me they were not understanding what I was saying. So it end with not much useful information.

If you are interested in Kingtech engines, talk to Barry, or Dirk at Pacific RC. I have purchased four Kingtech engines from them, and have had very good service.

Default Actual order

AJ,
I ordered a KT102G4 through Joey at JT Hobby on August 29, 2021. It wasn't in stock here in the USA. He ordered from the factory, shipped DHL and delivered September 6, 2021.
I don't think that you'll have an issue.

Ordered the k100g4 yesterday evening. Got an email today that it's on its way. This will be my first jet airplane. Getting really excited about it.

Got the BAE Hawk from Tower. If things go good with it I'll be getting more than one jet. Should be able to start the assembly in the next few days.

Got started on the assembly today. So far so good.
Horizontal half.

Wing half.

Light covers for wing tips

Vertical fin.

Servo mount for the vertical fin didn't look good so had to disassemble and redo..

Do you think a Jetcat P-80 SE would be too heavy for this model?

Weight wiss I think you would be ok. Length would tight not sure it would fit unless you wanted to do some modifications.

Tell me about it...

Bought my first jet early last year, an old Feibao Velox.
Fast forward 18 months : I now have an MS Jets Junior Felix, a Rebel Hot, and I ''m starting on a Carf Ultra Flash next week 🤪😳

Heck yeah, I'm working on building the same plane! Though I'm moving a lot slower...

Currently waiting on an resign 3D printer to add some cockpit controls.

That thing is going to be a rocket with a K100. You might want to keep an extra close eye on the fuel usage your first flight. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but with the stock 2L won't be much for the K100. You will only be getting about 4-5 minute flight times, me thinks.

I don't have any experience with gets so I didn't realize the flight time would be that short and I don't want a rocket. With the planes I have I like 8- 10 min flights. What engine would you recommend.

I'm new to jets myself and in the process of building the Hawk as well.

The 100 doesn't use THAT much more fuel than the 85 per minute, but again, not much room for error with a jet and running out of fuel. I suggest you run your jet on a test stand and watch the fuel consumption yourself. It might make you change your mind. Jets really suck down fuel at an almost alarming rate. My K85 on the test stand sucked up 12 oz of fuel in 160 seconds...

Just err on the side of caution your first couple flights and see where you are at...

2L = 67.6 oz

At 12 oz / 120 sec, I figure 11 minutes of fuel. But without risking running out of fuel, I expect to be at 7 minute flight maximum with the K85.

You will find by flying with a larger engine, that your time may actually increase, verses a smaller engine. This is because most of the time, the larger engine will be running at half throttle for the given speed. The smaller engine has to run at a higher rpm to get the same speed and will actually consume more fuel for the given amount of fuel in the tank. Now, yes it is true if you fly both at full throttle for the whole flight, then the larger engine will consume more fuel. Throttle management determines the fuel consumption.

If this jet works out for me I would probably get another one in the future. I could buy another engine and use the k100 in a later plane. Would rather not have to do that, but want this first jet to work good.

Well that's awesome!! My very basic physics intuition tells me that's a probably a pretty hefty scale of diminishing returns, but the theory of it certainly makes sense. With that said, you're also assuming people will fly at a lower throttle setting instead of just going faster... I'd be curious to see the exact math of such concept and where the variables intercept on a graph.
