Default Pilot RC 1/5 F16. Thoughs?

I can't find any reviews on the Pilot RC 1/5 F16.

Any thoughts?
5K is a great price.

I'm thinking of this or a RTF 1/5 BVM Yak 130 with K160, Which I also cant find any reviews on

Got 3 being built for myself and some friends. Kit quality looks like my Pilot J10 and FC1 so no surprises there. Mine will have P400 (want to hover it and check hover stability)and my friends will have K320 G4. Possibly looking at flying them in 2 months time. One of them is PNP so that might fly sooner....

Comparison to Bvm 1/5. Just slightly bigger on paper but the wings look 20% bigger. Gear looks over engineered and too beefy - probably designed for 90-100lbs jet - not 60-70lbs (they can possibly slim it down if needed). It is not as scale as the BVM and Skymaster but it looks like a F16 and has electric gear and has convenience.

Most of the stuff is already done on the ARF as well along with nice extensions, etc so it might still be an easy build like the FC1.

Default Maiden and thoughts on PNP

4 solid flights - 8-10min each.
Took me about 8hrs to get this ready. My fastest jet build ever.
Used an old K320 from my BVM F16 1/5.
21.9kgs dry with full uat. 26.5kgs wet (6.5 - 7L Diesel.)
Fly lighter than my BVM. Other than that it is almost identical. Gear is a work of art. Went up and came down like clockwork. Finally no more air on a F16 1/5. TV works quite well. If Hi alpha was not already easy on F16 this is just outright cheating!

Next up put some lightweight batteries and try hovering this...

5k and no panel lines? Looks like a kit from 1997. wonder what shipping would be? 3k? Nah pass.

Doesn't seem to be very scale, more a sport scale from the looks of it.
Being a Pilot product this makes since being a 3D model producer.

Yup - not fully scale. No opening cockpit, no air brakes. Not as much details compared to my 1/5 BVM. But lighter, slightly bigger and takes 5 mins to assemble on the field. E retracts too. I have my 1/5 BVM up for sale just because this is kinda convenient and a lot more capable because of TV.

Someone thinking to install a smaller engine? I'm in the process of ordering a Venom version and I have a 183N at my disposal. I want scale flying characteristics (with "normal" aerobatics) so no 3D. Power to weight should be around 0,7 at 26 kg take off weight. Some thoughts?

It should be fine.

You can reduce the fuel to 4L.

Thanks. My thoughts exactly. I'll post, when I begin the assembly. Sometime around next Christmas..

My buddy has one ready for a maiden, post some pics when we get it flying.

Agree more of a scale looking sport jet.

Not throwing mud or drama, just gonna share a fact, Local experienced pilot here in waco, had the venom scheme, plenty of flights on it, was at our field and had an elevator stab failure, plane went in total loss, had proof through pics and telemetry log of the failure in flight,
no support from pilot,
personally I wouldn’t even consider one. It is very far from a detailed scale model,,, If you want a nice 1/5 F-16 spend your money wisely, buy a proven model, Skymaster, BVM (jet legend) they have been around and are tough.

Solid 8 flights at Saraf Farms RC. So far everything is working flawlessly. Reduced fuel to 5.5L instead of 7L stock to get 9mins flights and coming with 1.25L or so left in tanks.

TV capability is insane. High alpha @ crawl speeds....snaps and slides are on point. Landing is a breeze too. Tracks like my old BVM 1/5....

I am aslo thinking about getting one, my 250 xbl needs a new home...

So whats the final verdict about the quality? Its not a scale bird for sure .. I cant understand why its so sport scale , with same effort it would have been easy to make it look right..

But it seems to fly nice and also it is easier to transport !

The quality is very good. Lots of panel lines but no speed brakes and no operating canopy.

I am thinking of putting a K210 and reducing fuel load to 4.5-5L....It hold KE @ 1/2 throttle and verticals @ 2/3 with K260. Lands @ crawl speeds and the TV's a lot of fun with flats spins and wheelie takeoff's...

Sounds nice!
I am also thinking JMB / wind rc large rafale instead of F16 but F16 is much easier to transport than 3m long rafale which has a huge fuselage.

Or sell 250 and reduce model size back to 2.5m and smaller to keep transport and storage issues at more manageable level..

Never flown the rafael so cannot comment. The F16's have always been a favorite of mine. Got another 3 flights yesterday...

Nice jet you mentioned reducing the fuel supply how is the fuel tank arrangement set up? Also is there JP gear in this jet? I have installed a set of JP in the 1/6th top rc F16 and they have worked flawless so far in over 50 flights. thx

2 Saddles (2L each) and 1 header - (2.5L). 1X Smoke tank - same as header. Gear is JP - flawless so far.
