I have a Soniwake 36. As with many I burned up the 120 amp. esc running 6s. Manufacture says it will run 6s. It did for a while.
Is there another esc that I can use that will fit in this boat? I tried the DYNM3880 160 amp but i will not fit anywhere in that hull.
Any suggestions??

I just picked up a SonicWake V2 a couple weeks ago. I also got a 150A Raider ESC from Off Shore Electrics. I haven't installed it, but it looks like there's plenty of room.

I am thinking of buying the Sonicwake36. I have a Blackjack 29 but it flips over a lot.
What do you think of the Sonic??

It's awesome. I've tried a couple different props and get anywhere from 45 - 50 on it. The self-righting works great too.

Just keep an eye on the temps if you mod it. It does tend to run a little warm. I may start playing with the cooling.

Who said iy burned up a a result of the voltage and not the amperage? Did you log the run and know how much amperage you pulled. Most esc are voltage limited becaude of the components used mainly the caps. Higher voltage actually lowers the amperage needed for the same power as a lower voltage. Efficiency also improves with voltage.

I am interested in the Sonic Wake 36V2. I believe the last time I was on this forum was in 2007. I had an MHZ Speed Star, and it ran a Graupner motor with two 4-cell sub-c saddle packs. At that time, that was considered pretty OK as the brushless systems were just coming on the scene and considered boutique. Now in my 30s and working all the time, I long for something to do other than work/sleep. I miss the days of just taking a boat to the pond and cutting it loose on the local waterfowl just for a good laugh.

I saw the Sonic Wake and thought, "Hell, I remember having to buy a boat and mod it to that level with all kinds of stuff to perform like that. Now it seems I can just buy it that way!". I don't know. I guess I am playing catch up now. I wonder if there are any boat clubs or folks in the Dayton, OH, area that run electric power boats.

I was in the same boat (so to speak). I got into boats around 2001. Got a V-Hull, put an Aveox motor in it. Pieced together the rest. One day the ESC let go and some parts melted into the bottom of the hull. Put everything into the attic (it's still there). Picked up a Sonic Wake V2 last year. Fantastic running boat. Runs like the boat I tried to build 23 year ago.
