Default JetCat BL brushless pumps for Rx turbines

JetCat have started to ship the P-130Rx turbine with the separate Brushless pump unit. This is also available to replace the purple pumps on Rx turbines.
The quality of brushed motors has deteriorated as industrial demand reduced and it’s been a struggle for model turbine companies to maintain reliable starts where motors designed for higher voltages wouldn’t reliably run at on fraction of a volt required on a Kero start turbine.
Brushed pumps always had a life mainly due to brush wear on the motors, brushless motors should increase the life dramatically

P-100, 130,140 and 180 turbines will run it and I think. The 200RX with V.10 ECU

Neat unit that does not need a mount either!

At sometime. They don’t play up with a decent dose of volts. It’s only the brush wear to overcome.

No they don’t ! Last week I checked data from my two 180s both still perfect after 9 years installed in my AW Hawks, even egts are still close to original. Original pumps and filters.
That in xx 306 has 20 hours , 120 starts, NO failed ignitions and no flameouts. Both still start beautifully, but I see a trend to brushless, even on servos, for even greater longevity and precise starting on engines.

9 years ago the brushed motors were still of reasonable quality…

it looks really good do you think they will offer something down the track for their older model turbines (eg. SX)

It could be done but it would require a small interface which would act as a small brushless speed controller.

The ECU would output its normal voltage (as if driving a brushed pump) but this variable voltage would then be used to control the brushless speed controller which would in turn allow you to run the brushless style pump.

That is the plan, it’s further down the road, but coming.

That will be great - I'm just about to start work on a old Skymaster Dragon jet that an old friend of mine has had sitting in his garage for many years.

It is yet unflown and came with a new Jetcat P160SE which is from the same era. Handy that I could upgrade its pump later down the track if and when required.

I'm re-doing all the avionics from scratch as his original setup was not finished and he was using a lot of older tech which I am wanting to upgrade.

Does the Pro series Jetcat have brushless pumps, I hope so .
Its a shame that some manufacturers don't keep you with new equipment but charge the same if not more than other manufacturers with brushless pumps and starters.

I have wondered about that too.. maybe its the cost of building something in Germany?

I have allways wanted to to try a Jetcat and I will now 130 RX-B. Yes I will be paying $600 more than most turbines but life is short.....

There is a test in the latest RCJI, Kingtech 130G4+…122N.
If you look at the test of the JetCat P-130…154N. That’s a P-20 extra free 😊

MPX female green with 6 pins. (One will come with the turbine)
Yes, 3s Li-Fe will work well, also 30c+ 2s Li-Po packs

The 160 has a brushless pump nothing about the starter being brushless.

No info for the 220pro on the website, but the P220 RXI has info which isn't the Pro series.!

The 160Rxi is not a brushless starter, only pump.
There is no 220Pro. But the 220 started the Brushless pump/starter series.
The 220Rxi not only has a brushless starter..but it’s a brushless generator too, so you never have to charge the ECU pack! It charges the ECU battery back to 96% (to avoid balancing issues) I flew one model 3 years and never touched the ECU battery.

https://www.jetcat.de/en/productdeta...%20s%20rc%20v2
Jetcat is only selling the 200Pro commercial but you can get a 250PRO and 300 Pro for our models...
I like the starter/generator on these engines makes a lot of sense, don't think other engine manufactures are doing the same!

There is no specific manual. It’s the RX manual which covers all set up and operation. The BL pump has a separate sheet provided with the 130Rx
