Semovente 105/25 “Bassotto”
Good morning to all of you. As already anticipated in some photos on another topic, Stefano aka Gulliver's factory is developing and printing a new tank. While we are testing the Matilda, Stefano has delivered to me the first pieces of the Semovente 105/25, the so-called "Bassotto." The gun for now is a dummy but will soon be replaced with a 2-axis system and recoil. The leaf spring shock system you see in these early photos will not be the final one. This is because this provisional system is a "working" prototype but expensive and difficult to make. The vehicle still lacks details but it was to preview the project. I hope you will enjoy it.

for another vehicle and as a test I tried printing just a track link, a small part that should be well within the size limit of the tiny printer I do have and yet the printed
was completely flummoxed by this one little part. And it took probably an hour to print just the one piece!
As I'm interested in Italian vehicles and have no idea when I'll get a better printer (space issues) just not 1/16 scale any longer, I will always be curious about availability in the larger scales.
Even in 1/6 a Semovente of any version is still a small machine...

Oh I understood that, just wishful thinking out loud on my part. I don't yet have a viable 3D printer to print these things myself. A friend provided a set of print files
for another vehicle and as a test I tried printing just a track link, a small part that should be well within the size limit of the tiny printer I do have and yet the printed

My purpose for most of the 3D printed parts is to use them as casting patterns; everything else I'd fabricate or machine from an appropriate metal.
Anything I use as a pattern I need printed at 1.5- 2.% larger than whatever scale the end result is to be to allow for metal shrinkage.
I'm not in a rush.
