I've searched all over and haven't found any discussion or thread on my issue. Stock 2wd Slash vxl. Only thing I've changed out is the pinion gear to a 19t and the spur gear to 90t. Ran that set up for a while. Then upped the battery to a 3s and ended up shaving the spur gear to very little teeth. So I went back to the stock hearing(I forget the tooth count). And since then full throttle or even very little throttle the white wire(coming off the motor) smokes. Anyone have an idea what's happening or what could be causing this? Any info I can get is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think you should try these
Gear change (19T pinion, 90T spur) likely culprit.
Increased load on motor with bigger gears + 3S battery stressed it.
Back to stock gears, smoking persists: points to motor issue.
Possible causes: Worn brushes, overheating, internal damage.
Recommendation: Replace motor or consult Traxxas support.

I did switch back to stock gearing. And that's when the problem began. Even went back to a 2s battery. It's a brushless system too. Motor or esc has never gotten extremely hot. Both after running a full charged 3s were still just warm. Thanks for the input. Appreciate it

I think Stock gears & 2S battery shouldn't cause smoking.
Focus on the motor
Worn brushes (brushless unlikely).
Internal motor damage from prior stress.
Check motor for free-spinning and grinding noises.
Consider replacing the motor.

Pretty sure you're going to need a new motor. Sounds like it didn't like the 3s. Probably shorted something inside. Can't let the magic smoke out.
