there are many electric start kits around these days most use a battery which is plugged into a socket on the car when starting it. the car just has an electric starter motor instead of a pullstart or drill start. eg many kyosho models.

your mates just have electric starters but proby have to run with a 7.2 volt battery in the car to supply the power needed for starter motor.the 3rd channel just switches this power on to the starter motor and glow plug to start the car.problem is you carry the extra weight.its the same as pluging an external starter battery in but the battery sits in the car and the 3rd channel is the switch
why dont you ask your mate?

this is how they generally work im sure someone who actually has one will correct me?

Here's a guess,
They make ignition conversions for nitro airplane engines; your Mate might be using that sort of system on his vehicle. A an on/off switch would be easy for that system

No such thing as a "kill switch" for a Glow engine.

Maybe he has some sort of devise that applies pressure to the flywheel to stop the engine

You really are asking for a lot of speculation here. What sort of car or truck are we talking about?

if you adjust the idle screw so it won't run and use the radio to set the idle the all you have to do is adj the trim to shut it off.
