DJ3 ducted fan question
What retracts are you guys using on the DJ3 ducted fan jet kit and are you making the noes gear streerable. Any recomendations on installing them. thanks john

John, I am using the ones from the Electric Jet Factory. They are pneumatic/air and the nosewheel is steerable. They were a bit expensive ( $ 139), but they are well made. The only problem with them is that the struts/wire on the main gear has to be longer (to allow the wheels to clear the air cylinder when retracted). This will make my DJ3 sit higher than the plans indicate.
There is a set (mechanical) made just for the DJ3 but the nosewheel is not steerable. I have read that some people are using these for the mains and using a steerable nose unit from Robart. I can't imagine not having a steerable nosewheel on this aircraft.
