I have about a 6 hour drive to get there and it never fails that almost ALL of the people I meet are from much farther away. How far are you going to travel and what do you love about it most. :sunsmiley

Default Cannot wait for Joe Nall---You Going?

I am thinking of heading up Friday and possibly spending the night to catch some of Saturday.

I am in NW Atlanta. Thinking about 2-1/2 or 3 hours each way?

I cannot find info on cost for admission (spectator) on the JoeNall web site. Do I have to buy a $20 BBQ ticket to get in?

I am tired of only reading about these meets!

Is there any kind of schedule that dictates what day is what? (Jet Day, Giant B-29 day, etc.)

Thanks for the info.

They usually have "warbird hour" every day--- and in years past the turbines, helis, and others did some demos. Lake for floats and boats and fishin--All of the 3D guys put on a show with their 40% planes. Last year even had Matt Chapman in his Cap 231 and a couple of full scale AT6s--The BarBQ is optional (but well worth it) and Admission has been $3 per day and you must have (or be in the car with someone who has) and AMA card--Not open to the public.---If there ever was an RC heaven--this is it!-- :rainfro:

Default Nope...

I don't know of a field in Bartow.

Where? Web Site?

Have you made the drive from Kennesaw to the Joe Nall site before? How long of a trip?

Thanks,

Ladd

Default Im going

Leaving on tuesday for the 280 mile drive. Staying until friday night. Where else can I sit under the awning of my camper and watch rc models flying at 11:00 pm and wake at 7:00 am to the sound of those same planes? Nothing like seeing a fun fly plane flying in the dark with someone shining a spotlight on it, that would scare me to death. All you guys have a safe trip and I hope to see you there.

Making that 300 mile trip is worth every minute.
the trip back always seems twice as long. Too bad this only
comes around one time a year. What a blast.

Default Cannot wait for Joe Nall---You Going?

I have been going to the Joe Nall for about 8 years or so. Last year,I had to miss it because my son,who is going to college in Florida, decided to get married that week. I ended up driving to Florida for the wedding and making a sound resolution to not miss the Joe Nall again. well.....................guess what..........this year he is graduating college THAT week and I have (want) to go to the graduation! AARGGHHHH!!!!!! But I am sticking to my resolution. The graduation is Thursday night. I can leave Florida Friday morning and still have friday evening and Saturday at the Joe Nall (even tho I won't be able to carry any planes) YIPPIEE!!!

see ya there!

Thanks Pug!

Thought maybe you were closely guarding that field in Bartow!
I think I found it after a Google search. Looks like a lot more room than CCRC.

I'm going to leave around 4:30am Friday. Can only stay the day. This is the first meet of this magnitude for me. I'm pretty excited.

I'll be wearing an orange 'ING' hat. Hope to meet some of the people from RCU.

You would think an institute of higher education would know better than to schedule graduation the week of Joe Nall?
